Sangam DMC pot rice dinner: cheese dakgalbi and double steak, Solsot
In short
Solsot Sangam Branch is a solsot (Korean stone pot rice) restaurant in Sangam DMC at 75 Maebongsan-ro, basement level 1, Mapo-gu, Seoul. On a weekday evening visit the steak pot rice was upgraded to double meat, and the cheese dakgalbi pot rice the child picked turned out too spicy for them, so the writer ate it instead, finishing the meal by pouring broth over the scorched rice for sungnyung. Solsot Sangam suits a mild, unfussy dinner near DMC Station.

On a day I had a dinner appointment in Sangam, I thought for a long time about where to eat before landing on Solsot Sangam Branch. With so many offices around DMC, finding a restaurant on a weekday evening is honestly a bit of a challenge.
A heavy meal felt like too much, but just grabbing something quick felt like a waste of the evening, so warm pot rice came to mind. That's how I ended up at Solsot Sangam Branch.
Search for dinner spots in Sangam these days and pot rice restaurants keep popping up — after going myself, I get why they're popular with office workers and families alike.
Where is Solsot Sangam Branch, and what are its hours?

Solsot Sangam Branch is located at basement level 1, Unit 101, 75 Maebongsan-ro, Mapo-gu, Seoul.

Being tucked in a basement, I figured it might be tricky to find, but it turned out to be surprisingly easy to reach. Park in the lot, take the elevator, and the restaurant is right there — no chance of getting lost.

How does parking work at Solsot in Sangam DMC?
Parking can be a real headache when driving to Sangam-dong, so I appreciated that this place lets you use the building's parking lot. The first 30 minutes are free, and with the parking coupon the restaurant provides, you get up to 1 hour free total — worth knowing if you're planning to drive.

Inside Solsot Sangam: seating and atmosphere
Walking in, I was greeted by a clean space with a warm wooden feel throughout. It wasn't flashy or overly decorated — more of a calm setting that lets you focus on the meal.

Tables were spaced out comfortably, so there was no cramped feeling from sitting too close to the next table. Ordering could be done easily right from the table, too, which kept the meal from feeling interrupted.

Maybe that's why I saw all kinds of guests — solo diners, groups of two or three office workers, and families with kids.

When looking for a dinner spot in Sangam, this kind of thing quietly matters. Food aside, whether you can sit comfortably and chat through the meal counts for a lot. On that front, I was pretty satisfied.

Steak pot rice at Solsot Sangam, upgraded to double meat
What I ordered that day was the steak pot rice.

I love a generous pile of steak, so I upgraded to double meat.

Pot rice might look simple as a dish, but I think what really matters is the visual the moment you lift the lid.
Opening the lid revealed steak, chopped scallions, sesame seeds, and an egg yolk piled on the rice — pretty appetizing.
The meat was cut into bite-sized pieces, and mixing it with the rice made the flavors come together nicely instead of competing with each other.
I especially liked breaking the yolk and mixing it in with the rice and meat. The savory yolk, the plain rice, and the tender steak worked together so well that each spoonful made me want the next.

The seasoning wasn't too strong, which I appreciated. Pot rice can easily end up too salty or over-seasoned and get tiring fast, but this one had a fairly plain base flavor, so I could eat it all without feeling weighed down.

If you're looking for dinner in Sangam and want something clean but filling rather than heavily seasoned, this would suit you well.

Cheese dakgalbi pot rice: too spicy for the kids
The second dish that came out was the cheese dakgalbi (spicy stir-fried chicken) pot rice. My kid picked it, but there was chili in the rice and it turned out spicy, so I ended up eating it all myself.
With all that cheese mixed in, the rice had this nice chewy texture, and the dakgalbi seasoning reminded me of jokbal chicken (spicy grilled chicken).

The cheese dakgalbi pot rice came with roasted seaweed on the side, and wrapping bites in it made it even better.

Finishing with sungnyung made from the scorched rice
At a pot rice restaurant, the moment I personally look forward to is the very end of the meal.
After scooping out most of the rice, you pour hot broth over the scorched rice (nurungji) left at the bottom of the pot to make sungnyung (scorched rice tea). That day, once I'd finished nearly all the rice, I poured broth over the leftover nurungji and waited a bit.
A moment later, spooning up the nurungji brought out a subtle, toasty flavor. I was already pretty full, but somehow the warm sungnyung kept going down easily.

I especially liked that it felt like a warm soup to close out the dinner.

When choosing pot rice for dinner in Sangam, I think this kind of full, satisfying finish is exactly the reason.
Who should book a dinner at Solsot Sangam?
After visiting in person, Solsot Sangam Branch felt less like a place just for pot rice and more like a restaurant you can adapt to different situations.

It works fine for grabbing a meal with coworkers after work on a weekday, and it's just as suited to a quiet dinner with a partner or friend. With high chairs and other setup for families, it's also worth considering if you're looking for a place to eat with kids. Parking availability is a clear plus if you're driving. Above all, I liked that the food overall was clean and filling as a meal.

Looking for dinner in Sangam these days, you'll find plenty of places built around grilled meat or drinking snacks, but on a day when you want a warm bowl of rice like this one, pot rice feels like a better fit. It's a place I'd recommend more for a day you're thinking 'I want a proper meal of rice today' than for a day you're craving something spicy or heavy.

If you're weighing where to have dinner in Sangam, Solsot Sangam Branch is worth adding to the list. Especially if you're looking at parking, atmosphere, and menu variety all together for dinner in Sangam, this place covers several bases at once.
Starting the meal with warm pot rice and ending with toasty sungnyung left me more full than I expected. Next time I'm eating in Sangam, I'd like to try the other pot rice flavors one by one.
For anyone looking for dinner in Sangam, I'd recommend giving this place a try on a day you want something clean and filling.
