Why two friends chose Korean pot rice at Solsot Sangam

Solsot in Sangam is a well-known lunch spot — everyone knows that!!! My friend and I were meeting up, and she said she had to watch what she eats, so we thought about salad instead. But wait — isn't pot rice fine? I asked her, and she said okay okay, as long as you pick a Korean dish with protein you're fine haha. Long live Korean food~

It's about a 5-minute walk from Digital Media City, right next to an underground food court, which made it even easier to find. Korean food is clearly something everyone loves — the place was packed at lunch and just as packed at dinner. Solsot: my dinner recommendation for a Sangam restaurant!

Solsot Sangam menu and prices

Checked the menu once before going in. Looking at it now, the cheese dak-galbi (spicy stir-fried chicken) pot rice looks like it would've been pretty good too haha. But I came with one thing in mind — steak rice bowl, hehe.

The system is order-and-pay-yourself at the table, which was super convenient — perfect for nearby office workers when they're busy. Set menus were available too, both a 2-person set and a 3-person set, great if you want to try a variety.

Steak pot rice, 17,000 won! My friend wanted fish — she was torn between the scallop pot rice on the cutting board, salmon pot rice, and hairtail pot rice. I was torn between eel pot rice haha.

Hairtail is also a pretty reasonable 17,000 won. Ah, but no matter how I look at it, that cheese dak-galbi is a little tempting~

How much does the double topping cost?

Almost every menu item lets you double the topping — for my steak rice bowl, doubling was 8,500 won!! I wanted to eat a moderate amount so I just ordered the regular size, but as I ate, it melted in my mouth so much I regretted not going double ㅜㅜ Definitely go double, everyone ㅜㅜ The extra charge varies by menu item.

Hairtail, dak-galbi, and beef brisket can all be added, and you can even add extra rice — this Sangam Solsot is something else!

There's also pork cutlet as a side, so go for it. Pork cutlet — another soul dish for Koreans, right~?

What Solsot Sangam is like at after-work hour

I deliberately photographed the empty side, but even though it was after work hours, the other side was packed... I wondered whether everyone came straight from working overtime or was stopping in for dinner — there were even solo diners. This place clearly gets visited a lot for Sangam lunch or dinner. The restaurant is spacious, so it never felt cramped.

Here comes today's steak pot rice! The yogurt drink peeking out hit me right in the heart.

Aaaahhh why is Korean food so good ㅜㅜㅜ There was a good amount of steak in it too — a filling meal!

This is the hairtail pot rice. The bones are all removed before it comes out, so it's perfect for mixing and eating. Ideal for anyone who finds picking out bones a hassle.

Each menu item is plated differently too. The hairtail pot rice comes with dried seaweed! The steak comes with its own steak sauce (the sauce is the kicker).

The hairtail was so thick that I felt like there was no need to add extra.

There was clearly a lot of steak, but I kept picking off one piece then another and ended up regretting not ordering more ㅜㅜㅜ It melts in your mouth so much~

Yum yum. The pieces were big too, giving that satisfying mouth-full feeling. The sesame seeds and chives (or scallions?) blended really well. Add a little wasabi, dip it in the steak sauce, and it's a flavor you just keep wanting more of.

Finishing with nurungji in the special broth

At the end, we made nurungji (scorched rice) and it was heaven ㅜㅜ Apparently the broth used isn't just plain water — it's a broth made with mackerel powder and other ingredients. Solsot's special broth (which explains why the flavor was a bit different).

It properly stuck to the pot... Felt like I properly nourished myself for once in a while! Honestly, the older I get, the more I love pot rice ㅜㅜㅜ

You seem to need to search 'Sangam Solsot' to find it, but it's not just a Sangam lunch spot for office workers — it handles dinner just as well.
