I went to the Hyundai Department Store at KINTEX to run an errand and ended up browsing the basement food hall — the bread on display caught my eye and I just couldn't walk past, so I stopped by Boulangerie Tan :)🥹

Boulangerie Tan, Hyundai Department Store KINTEX is on the basement (B1) food floor of Hyundai Department Store KINTEX branch, 817 Hosu-ro, Ilsanseo-gu, Goyang-si, Gyeonggi-do, South Korea. It's open daily from 10:30 to 20:30, closed on the second Monday of every month, and parking is available.

The breads were lined up neatly by type inside a clean glass display case, and honestly just looking at them was already so satisfying hahaha (bread addict here...). There's quite a variety, so if you love bread you'll spend a while deciding here 🤣

Why I came to Boulangerie Tan KINTEX: the salt bread sandwiches

What I was most excited for that day at Boulangerie Tan was the sandwiches! The Hyundai Department Store branch of Boulangerie Tan sells salt bread sandwiches, and since I'd already tried the baguette sandwich at the Unjeong main store, I was so curious about the salt bread version hahaha! The sandwiches were lined up by type in the case, and even just from the display, the fillings looked seriously generous.

After a lot of deliberation I placed my order, and while I waited, people kept coming in to pick out bread — yep, this is definitely a well-loved bakery 🥐

Boulangerie Tan's salt bread sandwiches aren't pre-made items you just grab — they make them fresh the moment you order! You get a buzzer after ordering, and while you wait you can watch the staff assembling the sandwiches, which was fun to peek at hahaha!

And they were running a 3+1 event when you buy 3 or more salt breads 👍🏻❤️👍🏻 I ordered 3 salt bread sandwiches and got an extra salt bread on top through the event haha. An event that gives salt bread lovers one more for buying three...!!! There's no way I could pass that up 🥹ㅋㅋㅋ The packaging was pretty too, so I felt happy the whole way home 🤎 Such a great event!! haha

Comparing the three salt bread sandwiches

Angbutter (red bean butter) salt bread

First up, the angbutter (red bean butter) salt bread ❤️ — one of my favorite combos 🤎 Soft sweet red bean paste and butter tucked between the salt bread, and the salty bread with the sweet red bean paired really well, as expected. I especially loved how the salty bite of the bread, the sweetness of the red bean, and the nutty smoothness of the butter all came through together. Out of the three, if you want something more dessert-like, I'd recommend this one 🥰

Jambon fromage salt bread

Next, the jambon fromage salt bread 🧡 — the one I was most excited about! Ham and cheese packed between the salt bread along with some fresh green arugula, which made it look really appetizing. There was a generous amount of ham, so with the first bite you really got that salty, savory hit of meat and cheese. I thought this could totally work as a light meal haha!

Sun-dried tomato salt bread

Third, the sun-dried tomato salt bread 💛 — my favorite item on Boulangerie Tan's menu! I'd never had it in salt bread form before, and after one bite I was like, wow, this is good too!!! haha The tangy, umami-rich flavor of the tomato combined with the nutty cheese made for a bright, easy-to-eat bite 🍅
