10-min Saturday wait at Glory Works, a Sangdong Chinese restaurant

In short

Glory Works is a Chinese restaurant on the first floor of Sigma Tower near Sangdong Station in Bucheon, Gyeonggi. The restaurant was full at Saturday lunch, so the wait was 10 minutes before a set of garlic tangsuyuk (sweet and sour pork), jjajang, seafood jjamppong and drinks for 33,000 won; the tangsuyuk came dipping-style, with a deep garlic flavor that was never sharp or spicy, so children and adults could share it. With free rice at the self-bar and 3 hours of free underground parking, Glory Works is an easy pick for a family meal out.

Where is Glory Works? Sigma Tower 1F by Sangdong Station

I visited 'Glory Works,' a Chinese restaurant located in Sangdong, Bucheon. Glory Works is on the first floor of Sigma Tower, and you can even get up to 3 hours of free underground parking ~ 🤍

When it comes to Chinese food, freshly made is always the tastiest. So off I went to this place known for its chewy noodles, freshly fried tangsuyuk (sweet and sour pork) meat, and popular sweet-and-tangy garlic sauce garlic tangsuyuk!

Instead of the Chinese restaurant look I expected, it was a clean, café-like space :) Glory Works was also running a 1+1 event on Yeontai gaoliang liquor and giving out 2 pieces of fried dumplings for dine-in guests.

How long is the Saturday lunch wait at Glory Works?

We visited during Saturday lunch and the place was full, so we waited about 10 minutes before being seated.

A pleasant wait ~ 🤍

What two people ordered: the 33,000-won set

If you're visiting as a pair, I recommend ordering the set menu! We got the garlic tangsuyuk, jjajang, seafood jjamppong, and drink set for 33,000 won.

As is typical for a Chinese restaurant, the basic side dishes were pickled radish and jachai (Chinese pickled mustard root), and the jachai wasn't too salty and was so good I kept eating it.

The self-bar and free rice at Glory Works

You can help yourself to more side dishes at the self-bar, but the best part was that the rice is free! Mixing rice into leftover jjajang sauce or jjamppong broth after finishing feels like eating a whole different dish 👏👏👏 I told myself I'd mix rice into the leftover jjamppong and jjajang sauce, but I ended up so full I couldn't manage it ㅠ_ㅠ Big eaters would love this.

Soy sauce, vinegar, and chili powder are set out at every table, and I personally like dipping my tangsuyuk in soy sauce ❤️

What does the garlic tangsuyuk taste like?

The garlic tangsuyuk arrives 👏👏👏 Glory Works serves its tangsuyuk dipping-style rather than sauce-poured, though if you prefer the poured style you can certainly pour the sauce over the meat yourself.

Garlic tangsuyuk served dipping-style with sauce on the side

The sauce had that deep orange color I remember from the old days, and it seemed to be packed with minced garlic! Pure nostalgic sweet-and-sour tangsuyuk sauce ⁽⁽ (˶> ᎑ <˶) ⁾⁾

The sauce came out steaming, more than just warm — practically smoking hot ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ Chinese food really is best eaten the moment it arrives.

One bite in, it was chewy like glutinous-rice-style tangsuyuk! The meat had no odd smell at all and was really delicious. Some Chinese restaurants have a batter so hard it hurts your jaw, but this one had just the right amount of crispness. Crispy on the outside, with a sweet and tangy sauce and rich garlic flavor, yet no bite or spiciness from the garlic at all — good for kids and adults alike.

Jjajangmyeon and seafood jjamppong at Glory Works

The jjajangmyeon and jjamppong I'd briefly forgotten about after being wowed by the tangsuyuk ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ

I'm usually team jjamppong, but lately I've really been craving jjajangmyeon ^ㅠ^ When you order jjajangmyeon at Glory Works, it comes with a pretty sunny-side-up egg on top.

Jjajangmyeon and tangsuyuk really do taste even better together ꉂ☻ᵎᵎᵎ

Seafood jjamppong loaded with seafood

The jjamppong was just spicy enough — perfectly hot and delicious. Plus it was loaded with fresh seafood like squid, mussels, and shrimp, which felt like it was worth the price 👍👍 I realized once again that waiting for this food wasn't for nothing.

With chewy, tender squid and plump shrimp, using only fresh ingredients meant there was no fishy taste at all — just clean, spicy satisfaction.

Final verdict: a family meal out in Sangdong

They're also running an event where you get 4 pieces of condensed-milk flower bread as a free gift for a Naver receipt review, so I made sure to claim that too >_< If you're looking for good restaurants in Sangdong, Bucheon or near Sangdong Station, I recommend Glory Works, a Bucheon Chinese restaurant.
