A Tuesday family dinner at Jjambbong Jijon in Bucheon

I try to spend quality time with my family every Tuesday. This week we visited a Bucheon City Hall favorite, Jjambbong Jijon. It's close to home and reliably delivers good taste, cleanliness, friendly service, and a spacious, comfortable atmosphere — which is why we come back often.

Visit to Jjambbong Jijon Bucheon Jung-dong Branch

Chinese food is always welcome, but the spicy, cool seafood-broth jjamppong (spicy seafood noodle soup) paired with crispy, chewy sticky rice pork is something I crave from time to time. A bowl of jjamppong with a side of sweet and sour pork makes for a filling yet affordable meal out — it's our family's favorite.

Inside Jjambbong Jijon: nearly 70 seats under high ceilings

The dining hall has nearly 70 seats and impressively clean, well-arranged table settings. Despite being a Chinese restaurant, the fancy chandeliers and high ceilings give it the feel of a famous restaurant. It also has an open kitchen, so you can catch a glimpse of the cooking process.

What impressed me was the mutual respect among the staff, which seemed to translate into genuine kindness. I think I've visited over twenty times living in this neighborhood, and the staff have always been friendly every single time.

The self-bar offers pickled radish, chili peppers, onions, kkakdugi (radish kimchi), and steaming black rice. For customer convenience, they also provide disposable aprons, scissors, ladles, small spoons, and kids' tableware — making it a great spot for a family meal near Bucheon City Hall.

Even the black rice is packed with care and flavor.

They have plum tea, omija (five-flavor berry) tea, and drinks kids love, all available to enjoy freely. What warmed my heart most was the note saying delivery drivers are welcome to enjoy drinks and coffee freely too, along with a message wishing them safe driving. Jjambbong Jijon Bucheon City Hall branch is such a warm place. I really loved that^^

Table with drinks seated at the table

Jijon Jjamppong 13,000 won and sticky rice tangsuyuk 19,000 won

That day, we ordered sticky rice pork and Jijon Jjamppong as our mains — sticky rice pork ₩19,000, Jijon Jjamppong ₩13,000. I wanted to try the jjajangmyeon from the 5th anniversary event too, but we all united around the spicy broth that day. I plan to come back and try it properly before the anniversary event ends.

Table spread with Jijon Jjamppong and sticky rice pork

Finally, a hearty spread arrived. The jjamppong, served in a large bowl, looked spicy just from the sight of it, boasting its signature appetizing appearance. A savory smoky aroma rose up too, stirring the appetite.

What the scallop-packed Jijon Jjamppong broth tastes like

They say food that looks good tastes good too. The red broth combined with the fresh green chives made it fun to look at as well.

It was loaded with various seafood and vegetables, and especially with a huge amount of scallop meat, giving the broth a sweet and refreshing flavor. It felt like the perfect hangover cure. The wood ear mushrooms were also incredibly chewy.

Jjamppong noodles packed with seafood ingredients

The noodles are great to slurp up with the broth, and here's the magic — even as you keep scooping out ingredients, the seafood and toppings never seem to run out^^

The signature spicy flavor of jjamppong filled my mouth. It's a classic taste, but the clean, sharp spiciness really suited my palate.

Sweet and sour pork, a perfect match

Taking a break from the warm broth, I moved on to the sticky rice pork.

The sauce was generous but mild, so I could enjoy it however I liked, whether dipped or drizzled all over. Fried sweet potato and sliced onion came as garnish, helping cut through any greasiness from the fried coating.
