Ilwon-dong tonkatsu restaurant with spicy cheongyang curry: Sioldon

There's a genuinely delicious tonkatsu place called Sioldon. It's in Ilwon-dong and parking is easy too :) I tried it once, loved it, and came back for round two. If you love tonkatsu, I'm about to introduce a real gem you won't hate.

This is one of those tonkatsu spots so good you're guaranteed to come back once you've been. If you bring a baby, they'll give you a separate stroller spot near the entrance! There's no baby chair though.

I love that you can park comfortably right in front of the restaurant 👍🏻👍🏻 Even when it's packed, tables turn over fast since it's tonkatsu, so a spot opened up quickly.

We ordered kimchi nabe (₩13,900) and combo katsu set (₩15,900, loin and tenderloin), then added cheongyang curry to the combo set! The cheongyang curry is genuinely delicious, so I definitely recommend adding it :)

Sioldon also has a value set — cold soba/cheongyang/tomato curry udon with 1 piece of tenderloin katsu and 1 piece of cheese katsu for ₩11,000. I think that's really great value! It seems like people eat a lot for lunch here.

Combo katsu set: pork loin or tenderloin, which is better?

Soon our combo katsu arrived. Loin and tenderloin come together, plus you get a salad with black sesame dressing! This one's refillable, so I recommend getting a refill.

I personally love tenderloin katsu, and this one is so soft and delicious. If you like tender meat, go for tenderloin; if you like something chewier, go for loin! I like tenderloin more haha, it's the kind of softness that just melts in your mouth~~~~~

And they also have a premium loin tonkatsu here, but it's limited quantity so you have to catch it while it's available. It was sold out when we went ㅠㅡㅠ It's supposed to be really good... if it's on the menu, definitely order it, highly recommend.

The curry is genuinely delicious and packed with meat. Mix it into rice and it's a fantastic combo~

Trying the kimchi nabe at Sioldon for the first time, 13,900 won

This was my first time ordering kimchi nabe, and it's like a kimchi jjigae (kimchi stew) with tonkatsu in it — delicious, and the tonkatsu was incredibly tender :)

Thick, satisfying meat and a delicious kimchi nabe! It had been a while since I'd had such a good meal at Sioldon, left full and happy 😆 Next time I go back, I'll definitely give the premium loin katsu another shot ✌🏻 Left full and satisfied. If you love tonkatsu, you have to visit~!
