Magok café for Marco Polo tea with hot water refills: Pict Roastery
In short
Pict Roastery Magoknaru Branch is a roastery café on the 2nd floor of Castle Park, across from Seoul Botanic Park in Gangseo, Seoul. Arriving just after 1pm with a former coworker once the lunch rush had passed, we ordered matcha basque cheesecake for 7,500 won, an americano for 4,900 won and Marco Polo tea for 6,500 won, then asked for hot water refills to stretch the tea out. Pict Roastery stays calm in the early afternoon, which makes it an easy place to sit and catch up.

A welcome guest came to visit me in Magok for lunch today — my former coworker!

After a long-overdue lunch together, we headed over near the lush, green Seoul Botanic Park — Magok's pride and joy — for a coffee.

Where is Pict Roastery near Seoul Botanic Park, and is there parking?
This time we visited Pict Roastery. It's right in front of Seoul Botanic Park, so it's easy to get to, and it's also fairly close to Magongnaru Station — a great spot to stop by after a stroll through the botanic park.

The café is on the 2nd floor of the Castle Park building, with an elevator right next to the stairs. My friend, who parked in the underground lot, came up by elevator.
What Pict Roastery feels like at 1pm, after the lunch rush
The Magongnaru area has a lot of office workers, so cafés tend to get pretty crowded during lunch. We came after 1pm, a bit past peak time. Walking in as office workers filed out with their takeout cups, we got to enjoy a much calmer, quieter atmosphere.

Off to one side of the entrance, a huge roasting machine caught my eye — very fitting for a proper roastery café.

After the lunch rush, the interior felt much more relaxed and calm. Perfect for a little break.
What we ordered at Pict Roastery and what it cost
Since Pict Roastery roasts its own beans, it's fun to browse the beans and coffee menu. For dessert, they also had aged French toast and pistachio tiramisu, among others. That day I was curious about the deeply green-looking matcha basque cheesecake, so I ordered it right away.

- Matcha basque cheesecake: ₩7,500
- Americano: ₩4,900
- Marco Polo (tea): ₩6,500

A strong cup of coffee, a sweet dessert, and a fragrant caffeine-free tea — the perfect combo for a break right when the post-lunch slump hits! Pict Roastery is a self-roasting café, so if you like coffee, it's worth checking out the beans and coffee menu too. For dessert, they also have aged French toast, pistachio tiramisu, and more.

Matcha basque cheesecake, 7,500 won
🍰Matcha basque cheesecake: Just as the name suggests, it had a rich, dense matcha flavor that really came through — very satisfying.

Marco Polo tea, 6,500 won, with hot water refills
☕Marco Polo (tea): This black tea had a really lovely, subtle aroma. I asked for a hot water refill so I could enjoy it slowly while it stayed warm.

Americano, 4,900 won, and the one free refill
☕Americano: A clean flavor that paired well with the dessert. And best of all — getting a free iced americano refill with in-store use was a genuinely big perk!
