Sundae gopchang stew and pork belly in Uijeongbu: Cheonpo Hoegwan

For a bit of a treat, I went on a date in Uijeongbu and stopped by Cheonpo Hoegwan, a pork belly restaurant that's perfect for grilled meat and soju. We ended up losing track of time over drinks — it was so much fun. Here's my honest review of Cheonpo Hoegwan in Uijeongbu, and it was a genuinely tasty time haha!

Where Cheonpo Hoegwan is and what the restaurant feels like

Cheonpo Hoegwan is located in Uijeongbu's old town, so it's really convenient to get to for gatherings or a night of drinks!

The place is really spacious and the tables are set at a comfortable distance apart, so it works well for group get-togethers or company dinners, but it's also a nice atmosphere for couples or friends to chat over drinks : )

What two people ordered: pork belly for two and soju

The prices were more reasonable than I expected — I was surprised! Since there were two of us, we went ahead and ordered two servings of pork belly with soju ㅎ

Another highlight and key feature unique to Cheonpo Hoegwan is the self-service minari (water dropwort) pancake corner!

There's a self-fry station set up on one side of the restaurant where you can cook it yourself. The whole process of frying it up yourself is small but genuinely fun lol.

As soon as we ordered, the food came out fast! Can you see how generous this spread looks,, being a famous restaurant near Uijeongbu Station, it's satisfying just to look at.

Even though it was two servings, the meat came out huge and thick, and the kimchi, shredded scallions, and minari were all plentiful too : )

Usually you'd have to order beef tartare separately as its own dish, but here it came as a free side dish! It made us pour that first shot of soju before the main course even arrived><

And now, the real drinking session begins! After a long day, filling that first glass feels so refreshing ㅎ Such an exciting moment....

As it grilled golden brown on the pan, the thickness of the meat kept all the juices locked inside. The kimchi and minari grilling alongside it were amazing too!!

Dipping a well-cooked, thick piece of meat into Cheonpo Hoegwan's special soy sauce, it just melted in my mouth,, the sweet-salty sauce paired so well ㅠㅠ

The lettuce wraps that came with it were so fresh — wrapping a thick piece of meat in one bite doubled the satisfaction!! They gave us several kinds of wrap greens so you can pick your favorite.

Partway through, we were craving broth, so we added a sundae gopchang (blood sausage and beef tripe) stew!! It was loaded with tripe and fat, and the spicy yet deep broth really hit the spot.

This finishing broth dish is the ultimate pairing to call for more soju... For anyone who loves drinking, this is a side dish that's hard not to love!!! Highly recommend!

Is Cheonpo Hoegwan a good date spot in Uijeongbu?

Cheonpo Hoegwan was more than enough for a Friday date course! I'd recommend it to anyone near Uijeongbu Station looking for good meat, good side dishes, and a nice drink. I'm already craving that minari pork belly again, so I think I'll be back next time I'm in Uijeongbu haha.
