We'd gone to Uijeongbu Art Library as a family to read over the weekend, and while searching for good places to eat in Uijeongbu for dinner, found a BBQ spot with a kids' zone and headed over. The interior of Hanmaeum Butcher Restaurant Gosan District Branch was spacious and the seats comfortable, making it a great choice for a family gathering, with plenty of space between tables. Lots of other guests were already dining when we arrived.

They also have private rooms, so it would work well as a private gathering spot too. With a room available, it's also a great choice for a work dinner!

One thing I have to highlight about Hanmaeum Butcher Restaurant Uijeongbu Gosan District Branch, an Uijeongbu BBQ restaurant, is the kids' zone. Our kids wolfed down their meal in no time and then happily played in the kids' zone while the adults kept eating.

At Hanmaeum Butcher Restaurant, we ordered just the whole-beef set and rice, and it was exactly the right amount for 2 adults and 1 child. I personally prefer restaurants that serve a whole pig or whole cow like this over places that sell meat by the individual portion. The set comes with a variety of cuts, and since it's a butcher restaurant, the price relative to the quantity is really good.

Beef and pork weren't priced too differently, so naturally we went with beef. There were also menu items to suit everyone's taste, like grilled cheese, nurungji, dad's doenjang rice, and mom's fried rice — it was fun just browsing the menu.

Everyone in my family eats light, so we only ordered the whole-beef set and rice, but there are plenty of kids' menu items too, like kids' jjajang rice, kids' seaweed soup, and steamed egg, so there's nothing to worry about when dining with a child.

Every seat here is comfortable sofa seating, which made it easy to slow down, grill the meat, chat, and enjoy the meal. When seats are uncomfortable you tend to rush through the meal, after all.

The side dishes, doenjang jjigae and the whole-cow platter

At Hanmaeum Butcher Restaurant Gosan District Branch, doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew) and basic side dishes come included, so ordering just the whole-beef set and rice is really all you need to do. The included sides were completely satisfying.

Scallion salad, lettuce salad, stir-fried fish cake, pickled peppers, baek-kimchi (white kimchi), pickled cucumber — nothing was missing, and everything had a wholesome, carefully made taste.
