I wanted to keep as much length as possible while fixing the damage and switching to a style that naturally frames my face, so I went to Chaper Hair Uijeongbu, a hair salon in Uijeongbu.

If it's your first time going, the building's signage might throw you off a bit. It's above Spaghetti House, and the outside sign actually reads 'State House,' so keep that in mind. It's two buildings down from McDonald's, and the shop is on the 3rd floor of the building.

You have to take the stairs up to the 3rd floor. Once inside, there's a counter and a product display, and the consultation area had a comfortable, cafeteria-like vibe. They actually prepared juice, coffee, and tea, so I was comfortable waiting and during the consultation.

What the consultation covered, from past perm history to the final cost

I booked the first slot at 10 AM on September 20 with designer Hyein. Instead of jumping straight into the treatment, she carefully checked my previous perm and dye history, how damaged my hair was, my usual parting, and the style I wanted. I was also told the treatment items and extra costs before we started.

Extra costs vary depending on length and thickness, so make sure to check during the consultation before treatment.

I hadn't eaten a single meal that day and was starving, so having water and snacks ready for me was a real lifesaver, haha. When you're getting long treatments like dye and a clinic treatment, even small touches like this end up feeling surprisingly big.

This is my hair before the treatment. The curls from my hippie perm were hanging every which way, and the ends were frizzy and puffy, which made the overall damage look even worse. My old cut line and layer placement were also off, so the sides of my face looked bare while the volume seemed bunched up toward the bottom.

Right after the consultation, she applied the dye. Clinic treatment isn't normally included with dye, but since my hair was so damaged, the designer generously added extra ampoule and clinic treatment. I figured my hair would turn out prettier if the damage got addressed along with the color change, and I really appreciated that she paid such close attention to that.

After the shampoo, I lay down and got a moisture-protein clinic treatment using a steamer. Lying there with warm steam, my hair got hydrated and I got sleepy, haha. As I relaxed, I slowly started dozing off.

After the clinic treatment, she dried my hair and cut it section by section while straightening with a flat iron. She didn't just trim the ends — she explained what had gone wrong with my old cut and how to fix it going forward. She even checked which way I usually part my hair and repositioned the layers so the part framing my face looked fuller. She also showed me how to blow-dry and style it at home so I could keep a similar look myself. She understood exactly what I wanted, which makes me think this would suit anyone who prioritizes design consultation when choosing a hair salon in Uijeongbu.

My old hair had yellow and reddish tones plus patchy color, so I wanted the dye to fix that. She combined colors well to cancel out the yellow and red tones I dislike and covered the patchiness too. It's a natural, upscale brown that suits my skin tone and how I usually dress, so I loved it. Even right after dyeing, my hair doesn't look coarse, and it looks smooth and sleek in the light.

The tone got calmer but doesn't look heavy, and the layered lines connect naturally, so it looked light even with my hair down.

The cut is seriously so light and the texture is amazing!!!!!

While keeping the overall length as much as possible, she lightened the thickness and adjusted the layer placement so the part framing my face looks fuller. She didn't cut a ton of hair off, but the texture came back to life anyway.

My hair falls lightly with every movement, and the layered texture shows in natural layers. You can feel the difference in hair quality and texture even more clearly in the GIF than in photos.
