Inside and outside Cheonpo Hoegwan

Today I'm sharing my review of Cheonpo Hoegwan, where I had minari (water celery) pork belly near Uijeongbu Station! It's a place where you can enjoy thick aged pork belly together with fragrant minari — and not just the meat, but a generous spread of side dishes and even self-serve kimchi pancake, haha.
Cheonpo Hoegwan in Uijeongbu is about a 5-minute walk from Exits 1 and 2 of Uijeongbu Station. Being so close to the station makes it convenient to visit by public transport too. Parking is available for about 3 cars in front of the restaurant, so keep that in mind :)

The interior was kept clean, and there are more seats further inside. There's even a private room for dining! Since the weather was cool, we sat by the window.

After we settled in, once dinner time hit, quite a lot of customers came in! It looked like a good option for anyone near Uijeongbu Station looking for a dinner spot — family meals, dates, company dinners, and more.
Cheonpo Hoegwan menu and prices: what we ordered

What we ordered
- Pork belly (₩16,000) x2
- Beef rolls (₩17,000) x1
- Rice (₩1,000)
- Minari doenjang jjigae (₩3,000)
Here's the thing — Cheonpo Hoegwan gives unlimited domestic kimchi and minari! Being able to pile on plenty of minari and kimchi while eating meat is such a nice touch, right?! There's also an event where writing a receipt review gets you a free hwarang, so keep that in mind if you're planning a visit :)
Free side dishes at Cheonpo Hoegwan: yukhoe and self-serve kimchi pancake batter

After ordering, they brought out a heaping plate of lettuce wraps and minari. Apparently the minari is sourced directly from a farm, and the fragrance was seriously amazing .ᐟ .ᐟ Even before eating it with the meat, the scent of minari was wafting up and building anticipation.

But the basic side dishes were the real jackpot •• yukhoe (beef tartare) came as a complimentary side, and there was even kimchi pancake batter ready to go (self-serve).

This would be great for anyone who's drinking, I'd imagine

There was already so much to eat before the meat even hit the grill! They also brought out sides that go well with the meat, like ureong ssamjang (fermented snail paste with chili) with chopped chili, and garlic. That ureong ssamjang was seriously my type ••

Minari doenjang jjigae and the self-serve kimchi pancake
The doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew) we ordered was also packed with minari, plus plenty of tofu and other ingredients. The savory doenjang broth with the added minari fragrance was perfect for spooning up between bites of meat ~
You can grill your own kimchi pancake at the self-serve corner!

One person grilled the meat while the other worked the self-serve corner making kimchi pancake ~ Siri's homemade kimchi pancake was tasty too, nom

Two servings of pork belly, 14-day aged and thick-cut
🥩 Pork belly for two — finally, the pork belly we'd been waiting for. Cheonpo Hoegwan's pork belly is apparently water-aged for over 14 days at 1.5℃. The meat was really thick, which is exactly my style!
They laid the pork belly on the grill along with minari and kimchi to cook together. As the meat cooked, a savory smell kept wafting up, and my mouth was watering the whole time it grilled ••

How could anyone resist this visual .ᐟ .ᐟ ㅠㅠ

I tried a piece of golden-brown pork belly, and biting into that thick meat gave a satisfying chew with a savory flavor spreading through my mouth.

It's tasty dipped in the sauce that comes with it, and even better paired with fragrant minari and well-grilled kimchi!

What do the beef rolls at Cheonpo Hoegwan taste like?
Beef rolls for one — the last menu item to introduce is the beef rolls! Apparently it's deeply flavorful woo-samgyeop (beef belly) rolled up with fragrant minari and enoki mushrooms, seasoned on the spot with a special sauce ~ It has its own charm, quite different from the pork belly.

Since the meat is thinly rolled, it cooked quickly on the grill, and I loved that we didn't have to wait long before digging in. One bite, and the rich fattiness of the woo-samgyeop, the fragrance of the minari, and the texture of the enoki mushrooms all came together beautifully. With the special sauce added, the flavor really came alive, and it felt soft and melted in the mouth! It's a different texture from the thick pork belly, making it a great combo to order together.
Final verdict on Cheonpo Hoegwan Uijeongbu Main Branch
Cheonpo Hoegwan is a great place to visit near Uijeongbu Station whenever you're craving minari pork belly! I loved being able to pair the thick aged pork belly generously with fragrant minari and kimchi, and having yukhoe and kimchi pancake batter as basic side dishes meant the meal felt hearty right from the start ~
There's also the fun of grilling your own kimchi pancake at the self-serve corner, and with the savory minari doenjang jjigae and tender beef rolls all together, the menu lineup felt really solid :) There's also a private room further inside the restaurant, so it's worth keeping in mind for gatherings with friends or family meals. If you want to enjoy meat and minari together near Uijeongbu Station, I'd recommend visiting 'Cheonpo Hoegwan' 🤍ྀི
