Today I'm bringing you a review of Onjeong Gyeongyangsikdang Sanbon Academy District Branch, a pork cutlet spot I found in the Sanbon academy district. You know how sometimes, out of nowhere, you get a craving for the old-school Western-style (gyeongyangsik) pork cutlet you ate as a kid? That's exactly the mood I was in, so I went. They said they only use Korean pork (hanton) and make their sauce in-house, so I had high expectations before I even walked in, haha.
Where is Onjeong Gyeongyangsikdang Sanbon Academy District Branch, and when is it open?
Onjeong Gyeongyangsikdang Sanbon Academy District Branch is at 5-11 Sanbon-ro 386beon-gil, 1st floor, Unit 103, Samdae Building, Gunpo-si, Gyeonggi-do, right in front of Gwangjeong Elementary School. Hours are 11:00–21:00, closed every Monday, with last order at 20:00.
Being right in front of Gwangjeong Elementary School made it super easy to get to!! It's right in the middle of the Sanbon academy district, so it's easy to find as a Sanbon pork cutlet spot and also a great location to stop by for a solo lunch, haha.

Parking: tower parking inside the building
Parking is available inside the building, but it's tower-style parking, so keep that in mind. I visited on a weekday afternoon, outside meal times, so parking was easy!! It can get crowded during meal times, so I'd recommend going with a bit of buffer time!
Ordering at the kiosk

Onjeong Gyeongyangsikdang Sanbon Academy District Branch has a kiosk ordering system once you walk in. The kiosk said they only use Korean pork and make their sauce from scratch, which really got my hopes up.

There were plenty of à la carte and set menu options, so I agonized over it for a while before ordering, haha.
What we ordered at Onjeong and what it cost
- Hanton (Korean pork) pork cutlet — ₩13,000
- Buckwheat soba + cheddar cutlet (small) set — ₩15,000
- Coca-Cola Zero — ₩2,000
It's a Gyeonggi regional currency and Gunpo local card merchant, so keep that in mind when you pay!! haha
The self-serve bar, rice included
While waiting for my order, I looked around the place and memories of old-school pork cutlets came flooding back, haha. The wood-toned, simple tables and the cozy vibe of the place were really nice.

Right next to it was a self-serve bar. You could help yourself to more water, danmuji (pickled radish), kkakdugi (radish kimchi), salad, and even rice, which felt really satisfying, haha.
With this kind of atmosphere, I thought a solo lunch here wouldn't feel awkward at all!!
A full table, set by set

The food finally arrived! Soup, broth, the cutlet, and morning bread were all packed onto one table — a true old-school gyeongyangsik spread, fitting for a real Sanbon pork cutlet spot. Just seeing it put me in a good mood and made me want to dig in right away, haha.

I sprinkled on some pepper and took my first spoonful of soup — a soft, creamy flavor spread through my mouth that brought back old memories, haha. And just like that... I finished the whole bowl of soup, haha.
Korean pork cutlet with kiwi dressing salad

Next I cut into the Hanton pork cutlet and took a bite — the sauce wasn't overpowering at all, so I could really taste the meat and the fried crust of the cutlet itself!!!

The sauce soaked deep into the fluffy cutlet with a subtle sweetness, and I kept reaching for more, haha.
The salad came topped with a refreshing kiwi dressing, which paired really well with the cutlet. No room for it to feel greasy at all, haha.
Buckwheat soba and cheddar cutlet set

I also tried the buckwheat soba and cheddar cutlet set that came alongside!!! The soba was clean and refreshing, a perfect match to eat together with the cutlet.
When things started feeling rich, one bite of soba cooled everything down and washed away the greasiness completely, and it was just so delicious, ㅠㅠㅠ
The cheddar cutlet came loaded with a thick, rich cheddar cheese sauce. Its salty, savory, punchy cheese flavor doubled the charm when combined with the cutlet!!
If you love cheddar cheese, you're going to love this one, no question. I think kids would love it too, haha.
Turning the morning bread into a burger

I cut the morning bread that came with the meal in half, spread on some strawberry jam, and topped it with a piece of cutlet and some salad. It ended up tasting like a Gundaeria (a homemade army-style burger) — and it was so good, can you believe it?

There's fun in mixing and matching it however you like, so there'd be no room for boredom even eating alone at lunch, haha.
Final verdict on Onjeong in Sanbon

If you're looking for a hearty Sanbon pork cutlet spot to fill up at, why not try Onjeong Gyeongyangsikdang Sanbon Academy District Branch? Between the Korean pork, the house-made sauce, and the generous self-serve bar, it was a really enjoyable meal.
It would be especially good for anyone who has fond memories of old-school Western-style pork cutlets. I've saved it as a Sanbon pork cutlet spot to come back to next time I'm in the area, haha.
