Sanbon beef BBQ: 600g sliced beef set 54,000 won at Geobugi Dongne

In short

Geobugi Dongne Gunpo Sanbon Branch is a pork and beef grill restaurant in Sanbon, Gunpo, Gyeonggi, known for meat aged 14 days. Instead of the usual aged pork belly, the writer's family tried the 600g sliced beef set for 54,000 won — 200g prime Korean beef slices, 200g chadolbagi (beef brisket slices), 200g woo-samgyeop (sliced beef belly) and mixed mushrooms — then added pork galbi for her husband and finished with the self-serve bar and free soft-serve ice cream. An easygoing Sanbon meat restaurant for a family dinner with kids.

Geobugi Dongne (거북이동네) Gunpo Sanbon Branch is a Gunpo restaurant our family ends up at surprisingly often when we go out to eat. Choosing a menu with a kid isn't always easy, but this place suits our meat-loving family well and there's so much to pair with the main dishes, so whenever I'm craving a Sanbon pork restaurant, this place naturally comes to mind~!

Especially when we want samgyeopsal (pork belly) or mokssal (pork neck) in Sanbon, we've visited a few times now, so it's become one of our go-to Sanbon spots :)

What kind of restaurant is Geobugi Dongne in Sanbon, Gunpo?

As the name suggests, Geobugi Dongne is a Sanbon pork restaurant that promotes 14 days of meat aging.

How much are the aged pork belly and pork neck?

Looking at the Geobugi Dongne menu, aged pork belly and aged pork neck are each ₩5,490 per 100g, and there's a pretty wide variety of pork cuts too, like aged ogyeopsal (five-layer pork belly), hangjeongsal (pork jowl), and gabrisal. Normally when we come to Geobugi Dongne, we mostly order pork — usually aged pork belly or aged pork neck.

What's in the 600g sliced beef set, and what does it cost?

So this time I thought about ordering what we usually get, but decided to try the beef paejgogi (thin-sliced beef) set 600g for the first time instead. The set comes with Korean beef paejgogi 200g + chadolbagi (brisket) 200g + woo-samgyeop (beef belly) 200g + mixed mushrooms, all for ₩54,000!

Instead of eating just one type the whole time, you get to grill and eat different cuts — beef paejgogi, chadolbagi, woo-samgyeop — one after another, which made it pretty good for the whole family to share :)

What's on the self-serve bar at Geobugi Dongne?

The self-serve bar at this Sanbon pork restaurant is seriously the best!

Since they also sell shabu-shabu here, there are ingredients you can add into shabu-shabu too, and best of all, there's a wide range of sauces and side dishes to go with the meat.

And for dessert, there's coffee and ice cream too. The ice cream is soft-serve, no less!!!

How did the Korean beef slices, brisket and beef belly taste?

The meat finally arrived and it looked so incredibly delicious! Since it's thin-sliced meat, it cooks quickly on the grill, so the wait wasn't long at all haha

The chadolbagi had a nice nutty flavor, the woo-samgyeop had just enough fat to be tender, and the beef paejgogi was thin enough to eat without feeling heavy.

On the side we grilled some kimchi~ and some garlic too~~~

Adding pork galbi and naengmyeon to the order

Oh, and toward the end I forgot to take photos..... After we finished all the beef paejgogi, my husband said he needed something to go with his drink, so we ordered pork galbi too? And wow, the pork galbi here was really delicious too! Truly a great Sanbon pork restaurant haha. Next time I want to come and just get the pork galbi alone!

And when I come here, naengmyeon (cold noodles) is something I never skip, just as much as the meat. Sadly I couldn't get a photo of this one either, but I really love naengmyeon at BBQ restaurants, and this place's is delicious too haha. There's a naengmyeon photo in my previous review post, so feel free to check that out!

Soft-serve ice cream made for dessert

Visiting with kids: the free soft-serve ice cream for dessert

And if you're coming with a kid, there's one more thing they'll love right to the end — the dessert soft-serve ice cream!! After all that meat and naengmyeon, you'd think you'd be way too full, but ice cream has its own separate stomach, right? haha. Making yourself a soft-serve on the way out after the meal really feels like the perfect ending. The ice cream here in particular is surprisingly soft and delicious, so every time I go, I just can't skip it~

With so many types of meat, it's easy to pick whatever you're craving that day, and it's not too much of a burden for a family meal with kids, so our family will probably keep visiting here from time to time.
