In short

From Italy is a European-style Italian restaurant near Gomo-ri Reservoir and Gwangneung Arboretum in Pocheon, Gyeonggi. On a two-day trip to Pocheon, a couple ordered gebawi pasta for 29,000 won and a half-and-half pizza for 34,000 won (arugula with smoked salmon, arugula with prosciutto), plus house wine and lemonade, and sat on the second floor, where high ceilings and large windows open onto the surrounding scenery. On a 1-night trip to Pocheon, I wanted at least one meal at a place with really good atmosphere, so we ended up at From Italy! Unlike a typical Italian restaurant, it has a European feel starting from the exterior, and once you step inside it's quite luxurious and classic, so there was fun just in looking around the space, not only in the food. Here's an honest review of the menu we tried and the overall vibe of From Italy!

Where From Italy is and where to park, near Gomo-ri Reservoir and Gwangneung Arboretum

From Italy is near Gomo-ri Reservoir and Gwangneung Arboretum, so it's a good addition to a Pocheon trip or drive route. The exterior blends red brick, a tile-style roof, and an arched entrance, so it feels less like an ordinary restaurant building and more like a small restaurant or an old mansion somewhere in Europe! There's a large dedicated parking lot right in front, so it was easy to visit by car too.

Do you see all these Blue Ribbons before you even go in? They've received 7 Blue Ribbons since 2020.

And starting with Morning Wide, it's also been featured on Live Today and Jangdo Bari Bari 3! It's already a well-known restaurant to a lot of people thanks to all these TV features.

What does From Italy look like inside?

The European vibe from the exterior of From Italy continues right on into the interior. Red brick blends with wood-toned furniture, and the lighting is soft, so overall it feels warm. Once you go further in, chandeliers, big framed pictures, and classic props add an even more luxurious, atmospheric feel.

It didn't feel like they just tossed a few props around — you could tell every corner of the space was thought through carefully. The interior and the props all blend together naturally so it feels like you've actually stepped into some small restaurant in Italy~

Second-floor seats with high ceilings and big windows

From Italy also has a second floor, and with its high ceilings, open space, and big windows looking out over the surrounding scenery, it felt even more relaxed up there.

Squid ink ciabatta and gebawi pasta, 29,000 won

Before the food comes out, From Italy gives you pre-meal bread first — squid ink ciabatta. Apparently it's aged for a whopping 14 hours 🥹 Putting that much care even into the pre-meal bread... ㅠㅠㅠ

The first dish that caught my eye visually was the Gebawi Pasta for ₩29,000! The name is unusual so I wasn't sure what to expect, but I got it once the dish actually arrived. *It's a bit spicy, so if you're eating with kids, they can make it non-spicy.

Gebawi pasta topped with puffed bread and baby crabs

You break up the rock-like gonggalppang (puffed bread) on top, cut it with scissors, and eat it together with the pasta. There were also two baby crabs on top of the puffed bread.

Maybe because there's so much seafood in it, every time I twirled the noodles a subtle seafood aroma rose up. The sauce blended really well with the noodles — genuinely delicious. That slight spiciness was the kicker. I liked that it wasn't overly rich or heavy.

Half-and-half pizza, 34,000 won: arugula with smoked salmon and arugula with prosciutto

We couldn't decide on just one pizza, so we ordered the half-and-half pizza (choice of two) for ₩34,000. You pick two from the menu, and I went with arugula smoked salmon and arugula prosciutto. I was curious about the blueberry pizza too since it's famous, but I really couldn't picture the flavor so we didn't order it ㅠㅠ

The pizza crust isn't thick — it's closer to a thin crust! It had a nicely chewy texture that worked well with the toppings, and splitting two flavors meant we didn't get tired of either one.

The first pizza was smoked salmon, which I love~ It really tasted delicious and healthy. Sometimes pizza can sit heavy in your stomach, but this one had none of that at all.

House wine and lemonade at From Italy

At From Italy we also ordered house wine and lemonade. The lemonade was sweet and carbonated, so it went well with both the pasta and pizza. My husband insisted that at a place like this you have to order wine to go with it, and he ended up saying it paired really well and enjoyed it.

Can you eat outside at From Italy?

From Italy has outdoor space in addition to the indoor seating, but dining out there isn't allowed. On a nice-weather day, it would be perfect for sitting and enjoying the meal while soaking in the lush green surroundings. Definitely a great spot to visit in fall or spring!!

If you're visiting Pocheon and want to enjoy delicious food along with great atmosphere, I recommend From Italy. The vibe was unique and lovely, and on top of that the food was really delicious too, so there's no reason not to go. If you're heading to Pocheon, be sure to check it out 💕
