Three pork cutlets compared at a Sanbon restaurant in Gunpo: Onjeong
In short
Onjeong Gyeongyangsikdang Sanbon Academy District Branch is an old-school Western-style (gyeongyangsik) pork cutlet restaurant in the academy district alley of Sanbon, Gunpo, Gyeonggi. Three plates came out for a family meal — the classic gyeongyangsik pork cutlet, the spicy Onjeong pork cutlet and the cheddar cheese pork cutlet — and the self-serve bar offered free water, rice and side dishes with unlimited rice refills. Onjeong is a good place to compare a classic brown sauce, a sharp chilli heat and cheesy richness in one sitting, and it suits a solo lunch too.

A family meal at Onjeong, a pork cutlet restaurant in Sanbon, Gunpo
In the middle of a busy everyday life, there's a place that suddenly brings back memories of holding my mom's hand and heading to an old-school gyeongyangsik (Western-style) restaurant — Onjeong Gyeongyangsikdang, located in Sanbon's academy district in Gunpo, where I went for dinner as a family outing! Just like its name suggests, warmth fills the place — from nostalgic classic flavors to a fiery spicy kick and pure savory richness, I enjoyed it all fully. Here's my honest review ✨.

Is Onjeong comfortable for a solo lunch in Sanbon?
Don't you sometimes crave that old-fashioned gyeongyangsik pork cutlet? That crispy-yet-softened-by-sauce texture, and the combo of cream soup and morning bread before the main dish arrives! I'd often passed by Onjeong Gyeongyangsikdang while walking through the Sanbon academy district alley, and finally visited for a family meal. With its warm wood-tone interior, it kept the cozy feel of an old-school gyeongyangsik restaurant while still feeling trendy — a great spot for both lunch and solo dining.

The three pork cutlets ordered at Onjeong
- Classic gyeongyangsik pork cutlet
- Onjeong spicy pork cutlet
- Cheddar cheese pork cutlet

On top of the thick pork cutlet 'blanket,' the rich, savory cheddar cheese and generously melted sauces really stirred up appetite even for someone with none to begin with. This truly felt like a hidden gem in Sanbon ❤

Dodram Korean pork cutlets and unlimited rice refills
Every pork cutlet and sauce at Onjeong Gyeongyangsikdang is made fresh by hand every day with real care, and for dine-in guests there's a self-serve bar off to the side where you can freely use water, rice, and side dishes — and rice refills are unlimited!

Gyeongyangsik pork cutlet: the classic brown-sauce plate
The classic gyeongyangsik pork cutlet is fried fresh the moment you order — a large, classic-style cutlet drenched generously in special brown sauce, the kind of flavor that makes you say 'the flavor you already know is the scariest.' The breading isn't overly thick and stays crispy, while the housemade sauce soaks in just enough to keep the outside moist and the inside chewy and tender. The sweet-and-tangy yet deep-flavored sauce cuts through the richness of the meat, so I never got tired of it, even to the last bite!

Onjeong spicy pork cutlet: addictive heat even for the spice-shy
The Onjeong spicy pork cutlet adds a fiery kick to the sweet gyeongyangsik sauce, an unusual cutlet aimed straight at spice lovers. The first bite isn't as spicy as you'd expect, but as you keep eating, a sharp, tingling heat creeps up at the end — a really charming spicy cutlet. The heat didn't feel artificial, just deliciously sharp, cutting through the greasiness typical of pork cutlets cleanly!

Cheddar cheese pork cutlet: the richest of the three
The cheddar cheese pork cutlet is a full-on explosion of cheese flavor.. The cheddar cheese, melted golden by the heat, cranks up the cutlet's savoriness several notches — a flavor no cheese lover could ever pass up. The rich flavor was hugely satisfying with this cheddar cheese pork cutlet! I even ordered cheddar cheese sauce on Coupang right after eating this,, I bet it'd taste great dipped with fried snacks or nachos too, haha. It was that kind of flavor you just want to copy for yourself 👏!
Onjeong in Sanbon, Gunpo: the verdict
This was a hidden pork cutlet gem in Sanbon, Gunpo, that captures both nostalgic, cozy vibes and clean flavor at the same time! If you're looking for a good spot for lunch or a solo meal in Sanbon, Gunpo, I definitely recommend stopping by Onjeong Gyeongyangsikdang Sanbon Academy District Branch 😎.
