Hwaseong Korean restaurant for meaty pork kimchi braise: Yangpuni
In short
Yangpuni Kimchi Jjigae & Samgyeopsal is a Korean restaurant in Hwaseong, Gyeonggi. I had the 28,000 won pork kimchi braise set with a thick no-water egg roll, big bowls of rice, and self-bar sides. Verdict: a place I want to revisit whenever I’m craving a seriously meaty kimchi braise.

Yangpuni Kimchi Jjigae & Samgyeopsal in Dongtan Bansong-dong
Hours are 11:00–24:00, with a break from 15:00–16:00 and last orders at 23:00. You can park right in front of the restaurant.
I am a huge kimchi-jjim (braised kimchi) fanatic,,,, and there was somewhere this delicious near my house?? It seriously takes less than 10 minutes by car. It’s near Central Park too, so it’s easy to get here on foot!!

You can park right in front of the restaurant like this haha. So convenient!!!!!! But the crazy thing is, soju is ₩1,900. Insane, right ㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠ hahaha, that’s basically convenience-store pricing lol. They stay open pretty late too, so next time I wanted to try the samgyeopsal (pork belly) here haha.
There were diners on the side where we sat, so I only photographed the other side! The side where I sat was super spacious too! Too bad I can’t show you, huh? lol
- Kimchi jjigae (kimchi stew), per person: ₩10,000
- Duruchigi (spicy stir-fried pork), per person: ₩11,000
- Samgyeop kimchi-jjim (pork belly kimchi braise), per person: ₩11,000
- Kimchi jjigae set: ₩26,000
- Duruchigi set: ₩28,000
- Samgyeop kimchi-jjim set: ₩28,000

They also had a summer special set with naengmyeon (cold noodles) and bulgogi! Seems like great value! If it were me, I’d go for the mul naengmyeon (cold broth noodles) and bulgogi set!!
Samgyeop kimchi-jjim set: ₩28,000 Drinks: ₩2,000 Total: ₩30,000
They told us the samgyeopsal was already sold out!!! We weren’t here for samgyeopsal anyway, so it was fine lol.

What comes with the samgyeop kimchi-jjim set
Oh, you can also order the samgyeop kimchi-jjim set for three or four people! And when choosing a side, there’s an option with bulgogi instead of the egg roll for an extra ₩1,000 haha. Such a practical deal!!
Such an insanely generous set!! The samgyeop kimchi-jjim set comes with the pork kimchi braise, egg roll, and rice! As someone who especially loves egg rolls, I thought this was such a satisfying lineup!

The basic side dishes: seaweed flakes, dried shredded radish (plus salted squid), and braised black beans.

If you run out of side dishes, you can help yourself at the self-service bar like this haha. (A self-bar fanatic.)

So I brought back more of what I wanted from the self-bar haha. More dried radish too haha. Hahaha. The fact that they had salted squid was such a huge win ㅠ

A thick egg roll made without water
Here comes the egg roll. That yellow color is insane;

Here comes my love, rice, carbs. They gave us two huge bowls. So much.

The egg roll from another angle. I like dipping egg rolls in ketchup, and I loved that they gave us a really generous amount of ketchup!
It was steaming so much ㅠ It was really hot and soft—so delicious,, Tuna took one bite and went, “Ah, this is an egg roll made without water.” And then we looked and it was written there hahaha. A 100% egg roll made without water!!!

Maybe that’s why the color was so pretty,, and when you pick up a piece, you can tell it’s really thick and packed with lots of egg.

It came out even clearer when Tuna took it with their camera,, it does look more delicious in this one ㅠ Anyway.

Samgyeop kimchi-jjim loaded with meat
Here comes my beloved kimchi-jjim. Seriously insane. Even with my crazy camera skills, it looks this good. So much meat with tofu too,,

I think they gave us almost half a block of tofu too.
Now, time to let it bubble away,, There was just enough broth, so it only needed to cook for a little while! Absolute best,,,, it looked so ridiculously good,,, this is cheating,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
I wanted to show you cutting the kimchi, but it was already cut into bite-sized pieces, so there was no need to cut it separately—we just had to cook it haha.

There was seriously so much meat,, no matter how much I ate, it never seemed to disappear. There was the right amount of fat and tons of lean meat too, so I thought my stomach was going to burst from eating it. Honestly, it’s the number-one kimchi-jjim meat I’ve ever had. Apparently they use Korean pork.

The meat was seriously insane. And the lean meat was fully infused with seasoning, so every part was delicious. Sorry the photo is kind of messy ㅠ But really, the more you chew this meat, the more and more and more delicious it gets!!!!!!!!!!

Haha, you just put seaweed flakes on the rice, then add kimchi and meat and eat it haha. You know,,,

I was going to make seaweed-flake rice, the trademark of kimchi-jjim haha. Seriously, there was so much meat hahaha.
Mix it all up and eat it lol. So packed with meat, good. Exactly what I wanted!!! Ah, mixing it with seaweed flakes made it another special treat; I’m bad with spicy food, but it was pleasantly spicy enough that I could enjoy it without sweating haha.
Put a huge bite of this in your mouth ~~~~~~~~~~ So delicious. The kimchi and meat are a perfect match. I really must be a Korean-food person. And maybe because it’s Korean pork rather than imported meat, it was seriously delicious. That’s why I want to try the samgyeopsal here too. How good would that be!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ending with a drink shot haha. A happy meal!!!!!!!!!
The value set is such a good deal, so order the value set. They say there’s no water in the egg roll here,, it’s rich and seriously delicious!!!!!!! It isn’t a slightly fluffy egg roll—it’s thick. Egg-roll fanatics, you have to order the egg roll,, I was so happy that it came with salted squid. Wow, but the meat in the kimchi-jjim here was insanely good. There was so much that I could barely eat rice because I was eating only meat.. I’m definitely coming back for it next time!! Parking right in front of the restaurant is convenient too lol. Good.
