Sokcho bakery text-ahead egg tart and financier boxes: Doris
In short
Doris Patisserie is an egg tart bakery at the five-way intersection of Sokcho Central Market in Gangwon. A text reservation sent the day before secured a box of original egg tarts for 15,000 won and a mixed set of 6 financiers for 18,000 won, and the reservation line at Doris Patisserie cleared in about 10 minutes. The crisp original pastry and the chocolate and coconut financiers were the highlights, but two boxes were not enough to share with family.

Hi, this is Cat Cheesemom. The last day of our Sokcho trip was a visit to Sokcho Central Market~ Doris Patisserie is such a popular, famous spot that the line stretches out the door, so we made a reservation ahead of time : ) Walk-in sales are only whatever's left over that day, so booking ahead really matters!

How to reserve Doris Patisserie by text, and where to park
Orders at Doris Patisserie can only be placed in 6-piece SETs (1 box = 6 pieces), and once you buy a set you can add individual pieces on top. They take orders by text starting at 6am the day before your visit, so make sure to text ahead before you go.

Doris Patisserie menu and prices

Here's the Doris Patisserie menu. It's basically a spot known for its egg tarts, but there are all kinds of set options to choose from~ I got 1 original box, and since I'd heard the financiers and madeleines were great too, I also reserved 1 mixed financier box.
- Original box (6 original egg tarts) ₩15,000
- Financier mixed set of 6 ₩18,000

Is there still a line with a reservation?
Even with a reservation, this is how long the line gets at Doris Patisserie — but since most people there had already reserved, it didn't actually take that long even with a long line~ Once you give your reservation info, they pack your order right away.

After about a 10-minute wait, here's what we got — egg tarts and financiers!! Great as a Sokcho travel souvenir and just as great to eat yourself, this famous Sokcho egg tart and financier spot.

How the original egg tart and the financiers taste
The original egg tart from Doris Patisserie has a really nutty, clean-tasting crisp pastry! And on top of that, the egg filling studded with vanilla bean is sweet and soft~

Trying all 6 kinds of financiers, they were fluffy and sweet. The chocolate financier was chewy yet moist, with amazing flavor~ and the coconut one had such a lovely aroma!

The kind of Sokcho dessert that makes you think 'I should've bought some as gifts too'~ Genuinely great as a Sokcho Central Market food stop!

Why two boxes from Doris Patisserie weren't enough
We ate the free sample they gave us in the car, and honestly it was so hard to hold off on the rest until we got home~ Eating the Sokcho desserts at home, I already wanted to go back. They even wrote out detailed tips on how to enjoy them best~ it was all so lovely, but by the end of that day every single financier and egg tart was gone ㅠ_ㅠ My parents and the rest of the family cleaned out both boxes in no time.
Two boxes really wasn't enough, haha. Since we could eat them the day we bought them, they were wonderfully crisp and delicious, but I also wanted to try them cold from the fridge — a little disappointing not to get the chance with these Sokcho egg tarts. We decided to buy more next time~~ and promised ourselves another Sokcho trip. Next time too, we'll definitely stop by Sokcho Central Market again~!
