Daepae Market Gangnam Nonhyeon Branch: a 24-hour outdoor grill in Gangnam
This is Daepae Market, located in Sinnonhyeon. It's a spot in the middle of Gangnam where shaved pork belly starts at 4,900 won at an outdoor grill setup. First orders require a minimum of 3 servings, though.
Since this place runs 24 hours nonstop, we visited in the morning, but if you're the type wondering where to go at dawn, this could be worth considering too.

Thin-sliced pork belly from 4,500 won: duck, beef and pork all shaved
Daepae Market is a place where you can try shaved duck, beef, and pork, all sliced fresh the moment you order. It's an affordable spot with shaved pork belly at 4,500 won, shaved duck at 6,900 won, and shaved beef brisket at 5,900 won.
We first ordered three servings of flower pork belly. You can also choose the thickness — either 1mm or 3mm. For our first order we went with 3mm.
Menu and prices at Daepae Market: cheap for Gangnam
Check the photo above for the full menu! Some prices seem slightly out of date. Drinks were 2,500 won. Doenjang stew and scorched rice soup were both 4,000 won, soy sauce fried rice was also 4,000 won, and pineapple sorbet — which usually runs over 10,000 won elsewhere — was just 6,000 won here.
Prices are relatively low here even though it's Gangnam. But I noticed there was an "adults-only" gimbap (seaweed rice roll) on the side menu. If anyone's tried it, let me know haha.
Also, it turns out a huge number of celebrities have visited this place. There are autographs covering an entire wall. It's fun just to see who's been here.

Self-serve bar with unlimited wrap vegetables, 2,000 won per person
The self-serve bar at Daepae Market is dedicated to wrap vegetables. You just help yourself. Lettuce, perilla leaves, cabbage, minari (water celery), mugwort, mushrooms, scallions, chili peppers, corn kernels, and shredded onion are all unlimited. It seemed like staff kept refilling whenever things ran low.
Soy sauce egg rice with spicy pork stew
I saw soy sauce egg rice on the menu and ordered it. It comes with two eggs, and you can add sesame oil or chili paste. It was delicious eaten with the stew! Less salty than I expected.
And I loved that I could shamelessly load up on unlimited cabbage wraps and corn kernels from the self-serve bar. It adds 2,000 won. Just a heads-up that the table charge is required.
I love corn, so I grabbed some to eat with the rice haha.
Onions are also ready to go.
The scallion salad was spicy, and seems to be a house-made sauce.
I also grabbed some mushrooms.
Spicy pork stew (jjageuli), 8,000 won
We ordered one spicy pork stew. It's 8,000 won. It's a dish with pork and vegetables, and goes well eaten alongside the grilled meat. Since it's a stew-style dish, the broth is on the thinner side, and it comes out freshly boiled and very hot, so be careful.
Three more servings of 1mm pork shoulder at 4,900 won per 100g
The additional three servings of shaved pork shoulder we ordered were 4,900 won each, so 14,700 won for three. Each serving is 100 grams, so three servings comes to 300 grams.
We carefully grilled the tightly rolled shaved meat. This second order of pork shoulder, at 1mm, cooked noticeably faster. If you eat until you're full, two people could probably manage around 6-7 servings, and if you're a lighter eater, about 4 servings of meat alone.
