Nonhyeon Korean BBQ with kimchi stew and spam rice: Daepae Market

I went on a date to a restaurant famous as a 24-hour Nonhyeon BBQ spot with outdoor seating. The prices here are such a great deal that I really have to recommend it — it's also a great pork belly place to visit with a group :) Daepae Market Gangnam Nonhyeon Branch.

Daepae Market Gangnam Nonhyeon Branch is just a 5-minute walk from Exit 3 of Sinnonhyeon Station, into Yeongdong Market! It's open 24 hours a day, every day, but there's no parking.

You can visit without a reservation, but the outdoor seating was full during peak time! If you want the outdoor tables, make a reservation before you go :)

This is Daepae Market Gangnam Nonhyeon Branch, a Gangnam spot open 24 hours. Since they have outdoor seating, a lot of people were eating outside in this cool weather! So even at 7pm, there wasn't a single outdoor table free!

The indoor space was spacious, so even with a lot of customers, we could get in without any wait!!

There were a lot of celebrity signatures next to the register! It's clearly a place celebrities approve of too~! There was one more reason this place is famous as a 24-hour Gangnam pork belly spot. They slice the meat and bring it out immediately after you order :) I think that made it taste even better!

Self-serve bar at 2,000 won per person: wrap greens and side dishes

The vegetables and side dishes you'll find at the self-serve bar! You pay ₩2,000 per person to use it! There were really so many side dishes and wrap vegetables! The quality was great too, so the ₩2,000 didn't feel wasted at all :)

Thin-sliced pork belly 4,900 won, chewy pork belly 5,900 won, pick your thickness

We ordered thin-sliced pork belly, 100g (₩4,900) for two, and chewy pork belly, 100g (₩5,900) for two.

The thin-sliced pork belly we ordered came out. You can choose the thickness before ordering the thin-sliced pork belly. You can pick either standard thickness or pork belly thickness.

The vegetables I brought from the self-serve bar! I just kept piling them on and filled the whole bowl... Grilled minari (water dropwort) with the thin-sliced pork belly was really delicious!

The kimchi jjigae we ordered as a side dish! It was genuinely spicy and hearty! The kind of taste that demands a bowl of rice ㅠㅠㅠ The kimchi jjigae was ₩8,000 :)

A big advantage of thin-sliced pork belly is that it cooks the instant you put it on the grill :) I kept grabbing handfuls, and it was really delicious :)

One bite with onion sauce and minari! The moment I ate it, it just melted away in my mouth! My boyfriend, who came with me, was eating really well too!

Adding 200g of Jeju heritage thin-sliced pork belly

We additionally ordered 200g of Jeju heritage thin-sliced pork belly. At ₩7,900 per 100g, it was about ₩3,000 more than the regular thin-sliced pork belly! Still such a nice price, right?

We grilled up the thin-sliced pork belly nicely, too :) I'd recommend grilling minari & bracken fern & mushrooms together. They went really well with the meat.

Ending the meal with 2,000 won spam rice

The dish that closed out the meal — spam rice! Spam rice was ₩2,000, and they grill a thick slab of spam right on top of the lunchbox rice and serve it! Eating this too made us really, really full.

I enjoyed a meal at Daepae Market Gangnam Nonhyeon Branch, a 24-hour Gangnam restaurant inside Yeongdong Market. With the advantage of being open 24 hours, plus the big outdoor seating area, spacious interior, and affordable prices, this restaurant has a lot going for it.
