Group meals at Gim Myeongju, a Bucheon Korean restaurant

In short

Gim Myeongju Tteuranchae Bapsang Bucheon Main Branch is a Korean set-meal restaurant in Bucheon, Gyeonggi. We ordered two Tteuranchae Bapsang sets with one soy-marinated yellow crab dish and enjoyed pot rice, banchan, and refillable cheonggukjang. A comfortable, generous choice for a group meal.

Pot rice made with freshly milled hwangmi rice

Gim Myeongju Tteuranchae Bapsang Bucheon Main Branch says it cooks its rice daily with hwangmi rice that it mills itself. Maybe that is why the rice itself tasted noticeably different—definitely a Bucheon Korean set-meal restaurant I would recommend. 👍

Spacious interior of the Korean set-meal restaurant

Although the interior was quite spacious, it was nearly full. There were plenty of long tables, so it looked great for company dinners. There are separate rooms and partitions throughout, too, making it comfortable for family meals, gatherings, and dates alike.

Adding à la carte soy-marinated crab to Tteuranchae Bapsang

Gim Myeongju Tteuranchae Bapsang Bucheon Main Branch offers the Tteuranchae Bapsang and Tteuranchae Jeongsik set meals. You can order the jeongsik menu for each person, but for better value, you can order Tteuranchae Bapsang for each person and add an à la carte dish. (Adding an à la carte dish is required.) Barley corvina, soy-marinated crab, seasoned cockles, and grilled mackerel—the classic Korean rice thieves with serious pedigree—are the main offerings here.

Tteuranchae Bapsang and à la carte menu guide

We tried Tteuranchae Bapsang for two, plus one à la carte soy-marinated crab dish. This special dish uses yellow crab from Jeju, aged in a secret soy sauce to retain its freshness while maximizing its savory depth.

At Gim Myeongju Tteuranchae Bapsang, the basic side dishes arrive beautifully neat from the start.

There is a wide variety, and the delicious Korean banchan (side dishes) are also available at the self-service bar, so you can eat generously. Even the cheonggukjang (fermented soybean stew) and japchae (stir-fried glass noodles) served as mains are freshly remade in the kitchen if you request a refill. The service is very good, too! 👍

A generous table, from banchan to cheonggukjang

There was the chewy hwangmi rice pot rice I had seen at the entrance, the à la carte soy-marinated yellow crab, and refillable cheonggukjang. The side dishes included fried eggplant, japchae, lettuce and ssamjang, braised burdock root, seasoned spinach, shredded garlic stems, and napa cabbage kimchi. On one side, brass bowls were heaped with tender braised radish, seasoned dried radish greens, pickled perilla leaves, and seasoned bellflower root. Every single side dish was properly seasoned and truly delicious.

The soy-marinated crab in particular had no fishy smell at all; the crab meat was clean, fresh, and sweet. The sauce had that perfect sweet-salty balance—just what you would expect from a place known for rice thieves.

Both the mains and side dishes were delicious, and because it was such a wholesome meal, I did not feel heavy at all even after getting home.

Sign for separate men's and women's restrooms

Clean, separate restrooms for men and women are also provided in one corner of the restaurant.

Above all, I was happy with how clean and delicious the food was. Even while the restaurant was busy, the staff remained kind, so we could eat comfortably.
