Jeju sashimi takeout to pair with makgeolli on a month-long stay
In short
Dutumhoe Dongmun Market Main Branch is a sashimi takeout shop inside the night market at Gate 8 of Dongmun Market in Jeju. During a month-long stay in Jeju, the writer took away an assorted sashimi platter, mackerel pressed sushi and coconut fried shrimp, packed in the shop's cooler bag with ice packs for the one-hour drive back to the rental. The thick-cut sashimi held its chewy bite and the mackerel sushi had no fishy smell, making both ideal snacks with makgeolli (rice wine).

Doesn't the packaging alone feel so thoughtful? haha Here's my Dongmun Market Dutumhoe takeout review!
Living in Jeju for a month, I've realized there's nothing better to eat comfortably at a pretty accommodation than takeout sashimi! And when it comes to Jeju, it's gotta be sashimi, right? haha

Here's my husband and our son Ido again, without fail haha. When did he get so big... his long legs are dangling out of the baby carrier haha. Dongmun Market always has so much to see, it's really fun no matter when you go!
What can you pick up at Dutumhoe Dongmun Market Main Branch?
Dutumhoe Dongmun Market Main Branch is a sashimi shop located inside the gate 8 night market at Dongmun Market in Jeju, handling a variety of fish species including cuttlefish. They sell pre-sliced sushi and assorted sashimi at fixed prices, so you can just pick and pick up right away, and they'll cut it fresh on the spot if needed.

Here's the storefront of Dutumhoe! They also sell cuttlefish and handle a really diverse range of fish species. If you need it, they'll slice it right there, and every piece of sashimi looked so fresh haha!

They sell already-sliced sushi like this at fixed prices, so ordering and pickup is really convenient! I chose the mackerel pressed sushi, but the other regular sushi looked so delicious too, I made a promise to myself to try it next time~! haha

They sell assorted sashimi platters like this where you can taste a variety of fish species all at once! Every piece was so freshly prepared, so no matter what you choose, you get the perk of enjoying fresh sashimi right at your accommodation's table^&^
Coconut fried shrimp, a Dutumhoe-only item

This is the 'coconut fried shrimp' that's only sold at Dutumhoe~~ It looked so aggressively good visually, there was no way I could not bring it home haha. Fresh shrimp wrapped in coconut batter and fried,,, that's a can't-miss combo, right? haha It goes so, so well alongside sashimi haha.

You can see the fish tank with the sashimi ingredients right here! All the fish looked incredibly fresh haha. Just imagine how good sashimi made from fish like these must taste~? haha You'll only know once you try it^^
One hour to the rental: how did the packed sashimi hold up?
For the long-distance trip, Dutumhoe packed everything in their own dedicated packaging bag along with ice packs. Even after about an hour from Dongmun Market to the accommodation, it arrived at just the right temperature.

In case you need to travel a long distance, they put it in Dutumhoe's own dedicated packaging bag like this! They also included ice packs, so even though it took about an hour from Dongmun Market to our accommodation, we were able to bring it back at just the right temperature haha. I think this kind of thoughtful care is what makes a regular customer!!

After an hour-long drive, 'Dutumhoe' has arrived at our accommodation's table, ta-da! I'm already getting excited just thinking about unpacking it ><

Inside, the packaging and ice packs kept everything at a cold temperature to maintain freshness! On top of that, they also gave us plenty of chojang (vinegar chili sauce) haha.

Looks exactly the same as it did at Dongmun Market, right? haha Assorted sashimi, mackerel pressed sushi, coconut fried shrimp,,,, writing about it makes me want to eat it again,,,,, haha (even though it's already in my stomach,,,) When you go buy sashimi, I especially recommend the coconut fried shrimp! It was truly a special treat haha.

Checking it out from the side like this,,, and mentally planning the order I'll eat things in,,,, haha The moment right before eating is always the most exciting ><
How the assorted sashimi and mackerel pressed sushi tasted with makgeolli
We paired Dutumhoe's assorted sashimi, mackerel pressed sushi, and coconut fried shrimp with makgeolli made in-house at a brewery near our accommodation. The mackerel pressed sushi had zero fishy smell, and the sashimi paired well with makgeolli instead of soju or beer.

The drink we paired with today's assorted sashimi, sushi, and fried shrimp was makgeolli made in-house at a brewery near our accommodation! haha You usually think of soju or beer with sashimi, but pairing it with makgeolli was so, so delicious too haha. I recommend everyone else try makgeolli with sashimi sometime too^&^
For mackerel pressed sushi, you really have to buy it from a place that knows what they're doing to avoid a fishy smell and enjoy it deliciously~ ~ ~ Dongmun Market's Dutumhoe prepares such fresh mackerel that there was zero fishy smell, and I could enjoy it deliciously haha.

We're such pigs,,, so we ate other dishes alongside it too haha. We had abalone porridge, Chapagetti (instant jjajang noodles), and a sandwich together haha. We prepared other dishes in advance because we were worried we'd finish Dongmun Market's Dutumhoe too fast since it was so delicious ><
Personally, I feel a bit let down when sashimi is sliced too thin, missing that chewy bite~ Dongmun Market's Dutumhoe cuts each piece nice and thick, so the chewing experience with each bite was so good! haha The chewy texture really came through, and you could taste the clean, mild flavor well, which made it especially great as a drinking snack!!
It's also located near Jeju Airport, which makes it great to build into the start of your travel route~ Clean packaging, fresh sashimi, and easy access from Dongmun Market — this trifecta makes 'Dutumhoe' a place I'd recommend^^!
