When you want a proper roastery-made cup during a Jeju trip or just an ordinary day, there's a place worth seeking out. This visit to Gasangsun Coffee, a café in Ara-dong, lived up to its reputation as one of the best coffee spots in Jeju City, with high-level drip and espresso drinks. I care a lot about coffee flavor, so I went in with high expectations after hearing about the place.

What the Gasangsun Coffee space in Ara-dong is like

The moment I stepped in, a rich, nutty coffee aroma filled the whole space.

The space feels clean and well-organized, with a long bar-style seating area balanced nicely against comfortable table seats.

A poster on one wall announcing the café's selection as a top Korean coffee shop in the 2026 Columbus Guide seemed to back up its expertise. Overall, the atmosphere was quiet yet still let you focus on the aroma of your drink — I found that pretty impressive.
What to order at Gasangsun Coffee: drinks reviewed

This time I ordered iced Americano, shakerato, and the hand-drip Ethiopia Abaya Gesha G1 Natural.

Iced Americano at Gasangsun Coffee
The iced Americano I tried first stood out for its clean, crisp bean-forward flavor. The balance — not overdone in any direction — was really impressive.

Shakerato at Gasangsun Coffee
The shakerato — espresso, ice, and syrup shaken together — came with a soft foam and rich aroma filling the glass. Served in a wine glass, it looked great, and the dense, silky texture on the first sip was outstanding.

Hand-drip Ethiopia Abaya Gesha G1 Natural
The one I was most looking forward to, the hand-drip Ethiopia Abaya Gesha G1 Natural, was a drink where the owner's care came through completely.

I was told this café uses a much larger amount of coffee grounds when brewing compared to other roastery cafés. They explained this is done to draw out a more even, deep flavor with precision.
Thanks to the slow, careful pour, every last sip stayed perfectly clean with no off flavors. The bright floral notes and berry sweetness characteristic of Ethiopian beans spread gently throughout, making for a truly complete cup.
Watching the hand-drip from the bar seats: what makes Gasangsun Coffee different

Among Ara-dong cafés, this is a place with a distinct philosophy about brewing. Sitting at the bar lets you watch the hand-drip process unfold right in front of you, and the owner's careful attention to timing and bean quantity while pouring slowly really showed a professional touch. Looking at the menu, they also sell bagged beans and cold brew to take away, plus run a special coffee omakase course — this will be a really special place for anyone who's serious about their coffee.
Would I go back to Gasangsun Coffee? Final verdict

If you're looking for a great coffee shop in Jeju City, I'd really recommend stopping by Gasangsun Coffee. This was a place where I got to taste truly careful hand-drip coffee at its best, and I'm planning to come back soon to try the other bean lineups and the omakase course.
