Kids' pasta dinner in Ilsan's Western Dome: Garlic Cook & Story

In short

Garlic Cook & Story Western Dome is a pasta, risotto, pizza and steak restaurant on the 2nd floor of Building B in the Western Dome mall in Ilsan, Goyang, a short walk from Jeongbalsan Station. Instead of sharing one plate as usual, we ordered a tomato pasta and a cream pasta so each of us had our own, and my child ate far more than usual. Garlic Cook & Story is an easy place to eat with a kid on a Western Dome outing, and next time we're trying the pane (pasta served in a bread bowl).

A day out at Ilsan's Western Dome with my child

My little one and I went on a date to Western Dome. And what's a date without pasta, right? Haha. We headed to Garlic Cook & Story so my kid could have their favorite cream pasta! The menu ranges from pasta to risotto, pizza and steak, so it looked like a good spot for a date or a family meal.

Where is Garlic Cook & Story Western Dome, and what are its hours?

Garlic Cook & Story is on the 2nd floor of Western Dome Building B. It's close to Jeongbalsan Station, so it's easy to reach by public transit, and there's parking in the building, which makes it convenient to drive there with a kid too.

The restaurant has a clean, comfortable atmosphere overall. There were couples on dates as well as families with kids, so it felt easy and unpretentious to eat there.

We could browse the menu slowly on the tablet at the table and order right away.

Vitamins served right after ordering

After we placed our order, a staff member brought us vitamins first, telling us we could take them after finishing our meal. It was a small, unexpected gift that put me in a great mood.

Tomato pasta and cream pasta: one dish per person

At Garlic Cook & Story we ordered tomato pasta, cream pasta, and an orange juice. We started off happily with the orange juice. Normally I don't let my kid drink juice before a meal, but hey, it's a date today, haha.

We ordered the tomato pasta and the cream pasta. Usually my kid and I share one pasta between us, but this time we each ordered a different kind, and my kid was thrilled.

Seeing two different-colored pastas lined up side by side on the table, my kid seriously deliberated over which flavor to try first — it was adorable, like choosing was its own little game, haha.

Now that I think about it, my kid really loves noodle dishes, and pasta especially. The spaghetti at Garlic Cook & Story must have suited their taste too, because they twirled the noodles around their fork and ate way more than usual. I was almost surprised — I think they ate more than I did.

The self-service corner was well set up too, so we could easily grab small plates or scissors whenever we needed them.

I used to think one pasta was enough to share, but now I think I'll always order one dish per person. Since my kid ate so well, I was relaxed the whole meal, and this is a place I'd love to come back to for a meal out with my child. I'm officially calling Garlic Cook & Story a must-visit restaurant in Western Dome!

After the meal, we strolled around Western Dome for a while. We looked at cute little accessories and even tried a claw machine. My kid picked out a gachapon capsule toy and spun it themselves. Between the delicious pasta and wandering around looking at things, it really felt like a proper date. With so much to look at before and after the meal, it was a great Western Dome outing for a meal and some light fun with a kid.
