Changwon Korean restaurant for cockle bibimbap: Anyeosane Sangnam

In short

Anyeosane Jecheol Hansang Sangnam Main Branch is a Korean restaurant in Sangnam-dong, Changwon, serving a 10-dish set meal built on seasonal ingredients. The set comes with gondeurae rice (seasoned thistle rice) and a clear-broth sundubu jjigae (soft tofu hot pot), plus braised mackerel, jeyuk bokkeum (spicy stir-fried pork), cockle salad, japchae (glass noodles), fried eggplant and baek-kimchi (white kimchi), and the cockle salad mixed into the gondeurae rice and the soft fried eggplant were the highlights. Seasoning stays mild, so the whole table at Anyeosane eats like a relaxed home-cooked meal.

Anyeosane Jecheol Hansang Sangnam Main Branch's signature 10-dish set

I've been so busy unpacking since moving that I've hardly had a proper meal. After a whole day of cleaning, I really wanted something that felt like real home cooking.

Then I heard about a place in Sangnam-dong that sets a whole table with seasonal ingredients. The name alone tells you exactly what it's about: Anyeosane Jecheol Hansang Sangnam Main Branch (안여사네 제철한상).

Anyeosane Jecheol Hansang uses seasonal ingredients and leans on the natural flavor of the ingredients rather than artificial seasoning, or so they say. Order the signature 10-dish set and you get gondeurae (dried thistle) rice and sundubu jjigae (soft tofu stew) alongside braised mackerel, jeyuk bokkeum (spicy stir-fried pork), clam salad, japchae, and more, all at once.

Trying it myself, it wasn't just a lot of side dishes — each one actually tasted good, and the seasoning overall wasn't heavy, so it was comfortable to eat. Today I'm introducing the 10-dish set I had at Anyeosane Jecheol Hansang, a Korean food spot in Sangnam-dong, Changwon.

Where is Anyeosane Jecheol Hansang in Sangnam-dong, and is there parking?

  • Address: 10 Madimi-ro 10beon-gil, Seongsan-gu, Changwon, Gyeongsangnam-do, 1st floor
  • Hours: 11:30–22:00 (break time 15:00–17:00)
  • Closed: Mondays
  • Parking: 2 spots in front of the restaurant
Two dedicated parking spots in front of the restaurant

My knees have been aching from cleaning after the move, and plantar fasciitis has my fourth toe shooting electric pain with every step, so even though it's in Sangnam-dong, I drove 🥲

The two spots in the photo with cars parked are Anyeosane Jecheol Hansang's dedicated parking. There's a no-parking sign with the restaurant's name on it — I moved it aside to park and put it back when I left.

Since there are only two spots, it's worth keeping in mind that they might be full when you visit.

Waiting list set up inside the restaurant

If there's a wait, you write your info on the waiting list set up inside. There's a Daiso right nearby, so if the wait is long, a quick browse could kill time haha

Menu at Anyeosane: 10-dish set, à la carte and the drink event

Menu board listing the 10-dish set and jeyuk set

The basic menu is the 10-dish set. It's the most representative dish, and there's also a jeyuk set and a budget-friendly set. There's also a drinking set good for a night with a drink, plus a variety of à la carte dishes.

À la carte menu board including clam-and-chive pancake

The à la carte menu is pretty varied too. I've seen plenty of chive pancakes, but a clam-and-chive pancake was new to me, so I was curious.

Drink menu with the Boksoondoga event notice

There were several kinds of alcohol too, and Anyeosane Jecheol Hansang was running an event: order Boksoondoga or Masan Jeongjong and get a size upgrade on jeyuk bokkeum for free. You just have to order one main dish too.

Boksoondoga is sweet and delicious, but I can't finish a whole bottle alone, so I passed on drinks again today... Going out with my husband, who doesn't drink, means I miss out on this sometimes haha

Curtained tables and how quiet the Changwon restaurant feels

Restaurant interior with tables divided by curtains

The inside of Anyeosane Jecheol Hansang has a slightly different vibe from a typical Korean restaurant. Tables can be closed off with curtains — not a full private room, but a setup that lets your group eat a bit more privately.

It seems the space is arranged this way so guests can eat comfortably. It also looked good for family meals out or gatherings where you want to talk quietly among your group while eating.

The lighting was soft and gentle music played in the background, giving it a bit of a gallery feel. Even though the restaurant sits right in the middle of Sangnam-dong, it was nice to be able to eat in relative quiet.

Sign noting the use of premium salt and mill-pressed sesame oil

Oh, apparently Anyeosane cooks with premium-grade salt and mill-pressed sesame oil.

They say the important thing here is using good ingredients as if for their own family, and drawing out the natural flavor of the ingredients rather than relying on artificial seasoning. It was impressive that they pay attention not just to seasonal ingredients but even to basics like salt and sesame oil.

Gondeurae rice and clear-broth sundubu hot pot

Sundubu jjigae ordered with clear broth

Now, the meal properly begins!

The sundubu jjigae came out first. You can choose between spicy and clear broth for the sundubu jjigae. Since one pot comes per table, everyone at the same table needs to agree on one broth.

I can't handle spicy food, so I chose clear broth without hesitation.

Two-person portion of gondeurae rice piled high with greens

The rice isn't plain steamed rice — it's prepared as gondeurae rice.

The portion in the photo is for two people, and at first glance I thought, 'isn't this a bit little?' But it definitely wasn't small haha. Eating through the side dishes one by one, I ended up so full I nearly couldn't finish the rice.

Above all, the gondeurae was piled on so generously it nearly covered the rice.

The gondeurae rice comes out unmixed, and you mix it yourself.

Gondeurae rice mixed to a glossy sheen

Once mixed well, the rice had a glossy sheen. It wasn't too mushy or too firm, the stickiness was just right, and there was plenty of gondeurae, so every bite had good aroma and texture.

The sundubu jjigae was bubbling away too, so now the meal really began.

Clear-broth sundubu jjigae bubbling on the stove

But here's a twist. It's the clear broth, and it was spicy! haha

Turns out there were hot green peppers hidden inside 🤣 My husband said it wasn't spicy at all, but since I really can't handle spice, it felt spicier than I expected. If you're visiting with kids or you're sensitive to spice like me, it's worth keeping in mind when you order.

That said, the clear broth wasn't bland at all. It was clean and refreshing like a clam broth, and it went really well with the soft tofu.

Through the 10-dish set: braised mackerel and jeyuk bokkeum

Table fully set with the 10-dish spread

Dishes kept arriving on the table one by one until it was completely full.

On top of the base of gondeurae rice and sundubu jjigae, you get a spread of fish, meat, namul (seasoned vegetables) and more, all at once. Rather than the usual Korean meal of one main dish with a few side dishes, it's closer to a real home-cooked table with everything laid out.

Braised mackerel with radish
Jeyuk bokkeum with a hint of charcoal aroma

First up, braised mackerel and jeyuk bokkeum.

The braised mackerel had what looked like fernbrake mixed in, and the sauce was thick and well-reduced. There was also a chunky piece of radish, seasoned all the way through and cooked so soft it broke apart easily with chopsticks.

Jeyuk bokkeum was one of the dishes both my husband and I agreed was delicious. The sauce was moderately sweet with a hint of charcoal-grilled aroma, and it paired really well with the gondeurae rice. I'm honestly not someone who seeks out jeyuk bokkeum, but Anyeosane's version made me think I'd happily order it as an extra dish on its own.

Cockle salad and japchae glass noodles

Clam salad with ggosiraegi seaweed
Moist japchae with plenty of vegetables

Next, clam salad and japchae.

The clam salad had about four kinds of vegetables mixed in with the clams. Everything went well together, but I especially liked the ggosiraegi (brown seaweed). The chewy texture of the clams paired with the crunchy ggosiraegi made it fun to eat. I thought if I ever make clam salad myself, I should add ggosiraegi too. (I don't really cook though, so who knows when that'll happen haha.)

The japchae exceeded expectations too. Side-dish japchae at restaurants often has too high a ratio of glass noodles or gets dry from being made ahead of time, but this one was different. It had plenty of vegetables, and as you can see in the photo, the noodles were glossy and moist.

Fried eggplant and baek-kimchi (white kimchi)

Fried eggplant with seasoned soy sauce and baek-kimchi

Next, fried eggplant and baek-kimchi (white, non-spicy kimchi).

They told me it was fried eggplant, and my first bite genuinely surprised me. How is the outside this soft? It was soft enough to tear apart with chopsticks, but not so mushy that the texture disappeared entirely. There was still a bit of bite left, and the seasoned soy sauce soaked in perfectly — it was so good. I already like eggplant, but for a moment I wanted to eat a huge pile of just this, no rice needed haha

Instead of the usual red kimchi, they served baek-kimchi. With so many heavily seasoned dishes like jeyuk bokkeum and braised mackerel, eating baek-kimchi in between felt cleansing.

Salted seafood, soft braised soybeans, and pickled pepper

And then salted seafood, braised soybeans, and probably pickled peppers...? The salted seafood tasted familiar, and it was actually the soybean side dish that felt more unusual to me.

The usual braised soybean side dish tends to be wrinkled and a bit firm, but the beans here weren't too salty and were much softer. Kind of like soybeans boiled and soaked in soy sauce? I'm not a fan of the typical firm texture of braised soybeans, so this softer version actually suited me better.

I skipped the pickle since it looked like it might be pepper and I was worried it'd be spicy 😅

Mixing the cockle salad into gondeurae rice

A spoonful of gondeurae rice topped with side dishes
Gondeurae rice mixed with clam salad into a clam bibimbap

With so many side dishes, there were lots of ways to eat the gondeurae rice. I topped it with braised mackerel, tried it with the eggplant I loved, added jeyuk bokkeum — it was fun to pick and choose one thing at a time.

At the end, I loaded a big spoonful of clam salad onto the gondeurae rice and ate it like a clam bibimbap. This combo was also so good haha. The aroma of the gondeurae worked better with the clam salad than I expected. I liked the clam salad so much on its own that next time I'd order it, or the clam bibimbap, as a standalone dish.

Verdict: is the 10-dish set at Anyeosane worth it?

When I first saw the 10-dish set, the sheer number of side dishes was what caught my eye, but after eating through it, I realized it wasn't just padded out with quantity. Fish, meat, clams, namul, japchae — each different dish was represented, and with the gondeurae rice and sundubu jjigae on top, it was genuinely filling.

More than anything, nothing was overly salty or sweet overall, so I could keep eating through all the different side dishes without it feeling like too much. After the meal, I understood a bit better what Anyeosane means by 'a table like the home cooking your mom made.'

  • A 10-dish set built around gondeurae rice and sundubu jjigae, with a wide variety of sides
  • Jeyuk bokkeum, fried eggplant, clam salad — every side dish was delicious on its own
  • Seasoning overall is mild, easy to eat like home cooking
  • Curtained tables let you eat in a quiet, semi-private atmosphere
