Gangneungok, a pork rib restaurant to know in Gangneung, Gangwon.

While traveling in Gangneung, I was looking for a proper, well-kept meat restaurant and ended up at Gangneungok! The sweet-salty balance of the sauce made the charcoal ribs really satisfying. This was a sponsored visit, but here's my honest review!
Where is Gangneungok, and is there parking?

Gangneungok is located at 82 Toseong-ro, Gangneung-si, Gangwon-do. There's a spacious parking area, so it's comfortable even if you're driving in.

The exterior is neat, decorated in a wood-and-modern interior, and the tidy hanok building stands out even from a distance.
Inside Gangneungok: is it good for a family dinner?

On one side of the tables at Gangneungok, there are baby chairs set up for families with young kids, which showed a nice bit of thoughtfulness.
It's a comfortable layout that works for group gatherings, family meals, or dinner with friends. Each table has its own separated space, so you can chat and eat cozily.

Charcoal-grilled seasoned pork ribs for two, mul naengmyeon and doenjang jjigae

For the table setting, fresh wrap vegetables that pair perfectly with meat, along with neat pickled sides, salad, and pickled onions, were set out one by one. None of the side dishes were too heavily seasoned, so they whetted my appetite well before the meat even arrived.

We started by ordering two servings of the charcoal-grilled seasoned pork ribs. The sauce had soaked in moistly, and the look of it was mouth-watering.

The combo of tangy mul naengmyeon (cold noodles) wrapped around a golden-grilled piece of rib — what they call yukssam naengmyeon (rib-wrapped cold noodles) — was, as always, the perfect finish.

Eating the meat while finishing with rice stirred into the savory doenjang jjigae made my stomach feel completely at ease. Rice is ordered separately! The stew's seasoning was just right too, so the meal ended cleanly.

As the meat cooked, you could see a gentle, not-overpowering charcoal aroma settling in along with juicy, moist meat.

Taking a bite, the sauce wasn't artificially harsh or too sweet — the salty seasoning had soaked deep into the meat, and it was really tender. There was no dryness at all; the more you chewed, the juicier it got, so it had that charm of never getting old, making you eat bite after bite without stopping.
