Korean restaurant for grilled mackerel with parents in Bucheon: Gim

In short

Gim Myeongju Tteuranchae Bapsang Bucheon Main Branch is a Korean restaurant in Jakdong, Bucheon, Gyeonggi, where both the banchan and rice can be refilled at a self-serve bar. The writer ordered the Tteuranchae Bapsang set for 3 plus grilled mackerel and shared 12 banchan, pot rice and cheonggukjang (fermented soybean stew) with parents, finding the stew earthy without being overpowering. With ample parking and mostly 4-6 seat tables, it suits a family meal out with parents.

Today I visited a Bucheon favorite, a Jakdong favorite even — a Korean restaurant where you can refill the banchan (side dishes) too: Gim Myeongju Tteuranchae Bapsang Bucheon Main Branch!

My parents and I love Korean set meals, but when picking a restaurant with parents, good taste alone isn't enough haha... Is parking convenient? Are prices reasonable? Does the food come out clean and tidy? Is the service friendly? We check all of it carefully — anyone else relate? So let me introduce a Bucheon Korean restaurant that satisfied even my parents on this visit 🤩

Location and info

  • 📍 Address: 59 Gilju-ro560beon-gil, Wonmi-gu, Bucheon-si, Gyeonggi-do, South Korea
  • ⏰ Hours: Daily 10:30–21:00 (last order 20:00)
  • 🅿️ Parking: Free parking in front of the restaurant

How do you get there from Bucheon Stadium Station or Gachiul Station?

Gim Myeongju Tteuranchae Bapsang Bucheon Main Branch is about a 10–15 minute walk from Bucheon Stadium Station or Gachiul Station — a bit of a distance from either station.

Free parking area in front of the restaurant

So I'd recommend driving rather than taking public transit! There's a large parking area especially, which makes it convenient to visit with parents :)

What's the interior, seating and waiting like?

Waiting area inside the restaurant

This place is popular enough that there's a wait during lunch or dinner peak hours! But there's a dedicated waiting area, so no need to worry haha

Spacious, clean interior of the Korean restaurant
Seating with 4-seat and 6-seat tables

A clean, spacious interior ✨ Most guests seemed to be families, which is probably why most tables were 4- or 6-seaters. The tables themselves are fairly large and spaced generously apart, making it comfortable to eat and chat with parents.

There are also several tables further inside, so it looked fine for group visits with relatives too!

Menu and how to order

The Tteuranchae Bapsang set for 3

✔️ Tteuranchae Bapsang for 3. The food we ordered was set out quickly. It really came out clean and neat haha And since the basic Tteuranchae Bapsang set includes banchan, pot rice and cheonggukjang, the value is excellent too!!

12 basic banchan

12 banchan in the basic set alone!! All of them pair well with rice. From namul (seasoned vegetables) to kimchi, japchae (stir-fried glass noodles), fried dishes and braised potatoes — varied, not overly seasoned, and perfectly salted. So good.

And the banchan are self-serve!! With 12 different banchan to work through, calling the staff over and over gets a little awkward 🥹 Gim Myeongju has a separate self-bar, so I could just help myself without any hesitation :)

Even better, the rice is refillable too, not just the banchan!! This kind of service is exactly what parents love. Value and service, both top-tier 👍🏻

How's the cheonggukjang?

The cheonggukjang included in the set!! It was really earthy and rich, but the smell wasn't too strong, so I think it'd suit everyone regardless of preference. My parents are cheonggukjang connoisseurs, and they ate it exclaiming how good it was :)

Grilled mackerel added à la carte

✔️ Grilled mackerel. This main dish had really thick fish flesh, so there was plenty to eat. The fat was completely rendered off, leaving only a clean, savory flavor — not greasy at all. Best of all, the flesh was moist and chewy, so piling a big spoonful of mackerel onto rice was a perfect match 👏🏻
