Gijang Korean restaurant: tea rice, dried corvina—Kkomak Hansang
In short
Kkomak Hansang Gijang Main Branch is a Korean restaurant in Gijang, Busan, near Osiria. I slowly enjoyed the two-person dried yellow corvina set with seasoned cockles, handmade side dishes, seaweed soup, and rice in green tea water. A satisfying choice for a generous meal with plenty of side dishes.

A dried yellow corvina set found in Gijang Osiria
Kkomak Hansang Gijang Main Branch is directly across from Lotte Outlet Dongbusan, and it is also close to IKEA and Lotte World, so it looked like a convenient stop when planning a meal around Osiria.
The entrance displayed estimated waiting times, and there was also a long sofa for guests waiting in line.

A spacious, bright dining room
Just as it looked from outside, the restaurant was spacious and pleasant. The floor-to-ceiling windows made it feel bright overall, and the tables were comfortably spaced, so it looked well suited to a family meal or a visit with parents.

What comes with the dried yellow corvina set for two
There were several full-table meals centered on cockles, but we ordered the Dried Yellow Corvina Set for 2 that day.

The set centers on dried yellow corvina, seasoned cockles, and seaweed soup, with assorted handmade side dishes including savory pancakes, seasoned vegetables, and pickles. As each dish arrived, the table became completely full! We had gone for a cockle set meal but debated after the dried yellow corvina looked so good; I was happy that we could taste cockles as well.

The side dishes were varied and neatly presented. Rather than describing each one, I will say that perhaps because they use fragrant sesame oil from Sigolgireumjip, they were all savory and delicious overall. It was also fun to have a little of this and that with the rice.

Everything paired well with the dried yellow corvina, the main dish, and it was refreshing and tangy enough that we refilled it once more. Extra side dishes could be ordered easily through the table-order system, and a serving robot kindly brought them right to the table.

Seasoned cockles and moreish side dishes
As befits a place known for cockles, seasoned cockles came with the meal too. Mixed with vegetables and seasoning, they were nice to nibble on throughout, and the cockles were plump and substantial, making it feel like we were enjoying two mains alongside the dried yellow corvina.

With easy-to-reach-for side dishes such as savory pancakes and eggplant dishes, I could really feel the generous abundance typical of a Korean full-table meal.
Trying dried yellow corvina with rice in green tea water
The dried yellow corvina, the main dish, arrived nicely browned. I first picked off the flesh and had it with plain white rice. Its salty flavor naturally went well with rice, and the flesh came away softly, so it was easy to eat. Plain rice was good too, but here you can also enjoy it over rice mixed with green tea water.

When I lightly mixed the rice with green tea water and placed a piece of dried yellow corvina on top, its distinctive salty flavor felt much gentler. Personally, I really liked this combination.

I started with plain rice, then switched to rice in green tea water midway through, which made the same dried yellow corvina feel like a slightly different experience. The rice was tasty too, so we ordered more.

Warm seaweed soup with fish flesh came alongside the meal, and with so many side dishes, we could eat slowly and feel properly full. I personally found it more satisfying because I prefer trying a balanced variety of foods rather than quickly eating just one or two dishes.

A Gijang Korean meal with parents
Plants placed throughout added a fresh touch, while the whole space was clean and comfortable, making it a nice spot for a family meal. I would recommend it when looking for Korean food while visiting Gijang with parents. If you want to try cockles and dried yellow corvina at once near Gijang or Osiria, or are looking for a generous full-table meal with lots of side dishes, Kkomak Hansang's dried yellow corvina set was a good choice.
