Hi, this is Mingdong. I visited Halls Gimbap Main Branch, a gimbap (seaweed rice roll) restaurant near Gyodae Station! The location felt familiar... turns out it's the former Oto Gimbap Gyodae branch, which changed its name to Halls Gimbap haha. A proper, classic gimbap spot near Gyodae 💖

Where is Halls Gimbap Main Branch, and how do you walk there from Gyodae Station?
Halls Gimbap Main Branch is located near Gyodae Station, so it's great for anyone with business in Gyodae looking for a solo-dining gimbap spot! The super cute horse sign caught my eye right away haha.

Seating at Halls Gimbap Main Branch: solo seats, dining hall and terrace
The interior of Halls Gimbap Main Branch has indoor table seats and solo seats like this, so it looks good for both groups and solo diners. The indoor seating is quite spacious, which also seems good for busy lunch hours!

There's also terrace seating, which is great for enjoying the weather these days while eating Korean snacks near Gyodae haha. I decided to eat on the terrace✅ Eating outside in weather like this feels so good
What to order at Halls Gimbap Main Branch

There's a self-serve bar zone where you can prepare water and broth ahead of time. The bonito broth really seemed MSG-free — I enjoyed it clean, without any heavy aftertaste!! The menu has a variety of gimbap along with dishes that pair well with it, like dakgangjeong, nurungji tteokbokki, and set menus. The gimbap menu is full of types you don't usually see at regular gimbap shops haha. There aren't many snack restaurants near Gyodae, so this also looks like a good place to come for tteokbokki 💖

We ordered nurungji tteokbokki for 7,500 won, dakgangjeong S for 10,000 won, and Jindo green onion tuna gimbap for 7,000 won. Everything was delicious, but the Jindo green onion tuna gimbap was truly the ace🧄🧅 It was a gimbap combination I'd never tried before, and now I want to try rolling it myself next time lol. It was that good.

The tteokbokki, dakgangjeong, and gimbap all had such a neat presentation! This also looks great to bring on a picnic. Bringing this to a Han River picnic sounds perfect.

Dakgangjeong S, 10,000 won: thin batter, crisp outside and juicy inside
The dakgangjeong was a textbook example of crispy-outside, tender-inside, with a seasoning that wasn't overwhelming — so tasty. Adding a chili pepper here and there for a spicy kick was fun. The batter was thin, so you could really taste the chicken — so good haha.

Nurungji tteokbokki, 7,500 won: chewy wheat rice cakes in broth
The nurungji tteokbokki had rice cakes so soft with the sauce soaked in perfectly that I enjoyed it all the way to the end...💖 It was exactly my style — tteokbokki with just the right amount of broth haha. The rice cakes weren't mushy, just the right chewiness, nice and springy wheat rice cakes!!!

The nurungji (crispy scorched rice) also gets fully dipped into the broth to soak up the sauce😉 Scraping up every last bit of the broth💦

Jindo green onion tuna gimbap, 7,000 won: the highlight of the meal
And now for today's highlight... Jindo green onion tuna gimbap!!!!! Living up to the name Halls Gimbap, this is genuinely the gimbap spot near Gyodae where the gimbap itself is the best. I confidently say it's the number one gimbap near Gyodae (no argument).

The combination of generous tuna with the harmony of green onion and vegetables is fantastic!! The lighter rice portion was also perfect. There wasn't too much sauce on the tuna, so it wasn't heavy — I ate it almost like a diet gimbap haha (though it's not actually a diet gimbap).

I also dipped it into the tteokbokki broth for a sweet-savory twist, hehe. The gimbap and tteokbokki combo went so well together.
Why Halls Gimbap Main Branch is a good solo meal near Gyodae
Halls Gimbap Main Branch centers everything around gimbap, and the side dishes pair so well with it that I had a genuinely enjoyable meal 💖 The menu lineup also seems great for solo dining near Gyodae haha. If you love gimbap and Korean snack food, definitely visit. If you're looking for a good gimbap restaurant near Gyodae, I highly recommend Halls Gimbap Main Branch! I went in without high expectations and ended up discovering a delicious gimbap spot near my office — feeling so proud >.<
