Living on Jeju, I eat around Nohyeong-dong pretty often, and this time I wanted some really good meat, so I went to Jeju Udae's main branch. The name alone sounded like it'd be a great meat spot, so I went in with high expectations — what we ordered that day was the udae galbi and kkakdugi fried rice 🥰

Inside Jeju Udae: the room and the high chair setup
The interior of Jeju Udae was on the darker side overall. Personally I don't mind that over an overly bright BBQ place — it made for a relaxed meal haha.
Since we'd booked ahead, our table was all set up when we arrived! There was a baby chair, but Jiyu wanted to sit in a grown-up chair instead, so she sat in her sister's chair lol. The kids' dishware was also ready in advance, which was convenient.
Watching the meat that had been aged (?) beforehand, I couldn't help but drool a little...

Raw galbi or marinated galbi: which to order?
We ordered the raw udae galbi and kkakdugi fried rice! We debated between marinated and raw galbi, and the owner said most people usually go for the raw one — though the marinated one has a slightly softer flavor. We decided to go with the majority opinion lol, raw it is! 🥰
While waiting, I saw the meat picking up that smoky aroma and ran right over to film it 💛 wow it looked so good... my mouth was watering...
Side dishes and sauces, including beef radish soup
The beef radish soup that came as a side dish! Jiyu mixed a whole bowl of rice into her soup and finished it in no time. Having beef radish soup at a BBQ place you're bringing a kid to is really...
There were a lot of sauces too. The first bite was dipped in maldon salt, and below that were cheongyang pepper sauce and perilla leaf sauce, which were seriously the best!

Jiyu and I were both ready to go. Since the staff grill the meat for you, we just sat there holding our chopsticks, waiting...

How did the raw udae galbi taste?
The udae galbi finally arrived! The meat looked delicious just to look at, and it turned out even softer than I expected — really enjoyable to eat. It wasn't tough at all, so it was easy to eat without any worry, and of course meat tastes best eaten right away while it's hot lol.

Father and daughter in their aprons. Why is this so cute.

When eating with a kid, if the meat is too tough you have to cut it into small pieces, but since it was soft it was fine to eat together with a child too. If you're looking for a BBQ restaurant in Nohyeong-dong for a family meal, this seems like a pretty important point 🥰
The first bite dipped in salt — wow, the juices were so soft and the meaty aroma really came through!

Eating udae galbi in tortilla wraps
They even had tortillas ready, so wrapping up meat, sauce, and radish salad together made for seriously the best bite!

The tortilla wraps were great, but honestly the meat itself was so good that it tasted great with any sauce. 💛

Finishing with kkakdugi fried rice
I'm the type who always needs rice or fried rice after eating meat lol, so we ordered the kkakdugi fried rice to finish. After BBQ, I just can't skip fried rice 😂 the kkakdugi (radish kimchi) cut through the richness nicely, making it the perfect way to wrap up the meal. Finishing off the tasty udae galbi with fried rice made for a satisfying meal!

And finishing off with tomatoes for dessert cleaned our palates completely! 🍅
Where to park at Jeju Udae in Nohyeong-dong
There's parking for about 4–5 cars right in front of the restaurant! But if it's full, you can park in the lot across the street at Four Seasons Hotel, and they'll support your parking like this 👍🏻

Overall, this was a place where we ate soft udae galbi and kkakdugi fried rice happily. The interior was on the darker side, but that actually made for a calmer meal, and having a baby chair and kids' dishware ready made it easy to visit with a child. As a Jeju resident, if you're looking for a family dinner or BBQ spot in Nohyeong-dong, this place is worth a visit 🥩❤️ Especially for those like me looking for places to eat out with kids in Jeju, whether they have a baby chair and dishware ready matters quite a bit — and this Nohyeong-dong BBQ place had all of that covered, which I appreciated haha.
