Yongin BBQ with three pork cuts over charcoal: Dongbaek Hanokjip
In short
Dongbaek Hanokjip is a charcoal-grill butcher restaurant on Eodong-ro in Giheung-gu, Yongin, Gyeonggi. Tagging along with a friend who lives in Yongin and brings family here often, the writer grilled three cuts — pork belly, pork neck and pork jowl — over real charcoal and finished with handmade bibim naengmyeon (spicy cold buckwheat noodles). Between the hanok interior, the large parking lot and the self-serve side dish corner, Dongbaek Hanokjip suits family meals and work dinners alike.

Known as a 1++ hanwoo spot and a marinated pork rib spot, Dongbaek Hanokjip in Yongin. A very satisfying visit for pork belly, pork neck, and pork jowl.
Met up with a friend who lives in Yongin after a while, and she took me to the BBQ place she often goes to for family meals! Visited Dongbaek Hanokjip, a charcoal-grilled butcher restaurant known as a good Yongin restaurant.
What Dongbaek Hanokjip looks like inside, and is there parking?
Dongbaek Hanokjip is a hanok-style charcoal-grilled butcher restaurant on the 1st floor of 221 Eodong-ro, Giheung-gu. From the moment I stepped in, the grand, warm feel of a traditional hanok was really appealing.

There's plenty of parking space, which makes it a good choice for family outings or group dinners too.

It operates as a butcher-style restaurant, so you can see and choose fresh meat with your own eyes, which really added to the trust factor.

Inside, the neatly maintained wood interior and spacious table layout stood out, and with the view through the floor-to-ceiling windows, it was perfect for enjoying a relaxed meal in a tidy hanok atmosphere.
How the pork belly, neck and jowl tasted

What we ordered: pork belly, pork neck, pork jowl! Dongbaek Hanokjip is widely known as a 1++ hanwoo (premium Korean beef) spot and a sweet marinated pork rib spot, but this time we went mainly for fresh raw pork to taste the real flavor of hanwoo (Korean beef)'s pork counterpart, hanwoo... actually, Korean native pork.
1. Thick pork neck, full of juice

The first thing we put on the grill was the pork neck — thanks to its thickness and the charcoal's strong heat, the outside turned crisp while the inside stayed packed with juice.

No dryness at all, just soft chewing, and the clean, savory flavor that spread with each bite was easily the best part.
2. Nutty, rich pork belly

The pork belly, with its perfect ratio of lean meat to fat, was deeply infused with charcoal aroma that added extra savoriness. The sound of it browning on the grill, plus the fragrant fat dripping onto the charcoal, stirred up the appetite — crisp outside, moist inside, just excellent.
3. Pork jowl, the tender specialty cut

Last was the pork jowl, its dense marbling giving it a standout look, with a distinctively crisp-yet-chewy texture and a savory flavor that burst with every bite, filling the mouth.

4. Handmade bibim naengmyeon to finish
Made with in-house buckwheat noodles and a secret sauce using natural ingredients, the balance of gentle sweetness and savoriness was great, and eating it alongside the pork belly cut through the richness for a clean finish.
Why Dongbaek Hanokjip is worth the trip in Yongin

1. Top-grade raw meat plus charcoal: playing to the strengths of a butcher-style restaurant, the meat quality itself was excellent, and the strong-heat real charcoal completely eliminated any off smell while adding rich aroma, maximizing the meat's natural flavor.

2. Neat, satisfying side dishes: every basic side dish in the table setting was tidy and just plain delicious. Seems like the owner really has a good hand for cooking~

On top of fresh lettuce wraps, the seasoned dishes and pickles that cut through the meat's richness were clean and well-composed, so we never got tired of eating.

You can help yourself freely at the self-serve corner.

3. Pleasant, friendly service: I heard there's usually a wait, so I went outside peak hours — the grill plate was swapped and side dishes refilled quickly, and the friendly staff made for a comfortable meal throughout.

If you want to enjoy quality raw meat and real charcoal grilling in a place with atmosphere, I highly recommend Dongbaek Hanokjip, a charcoal-grilled butcher restaurant and Giheung favorite. The moist pork neck, savory pork belly, and specialty pork jowl were all satisfying without a single miss — next time I'll have to try the marinated pork ribs and the 1++ hanwoo beef too, since they're known for those.

They even had Febreze by the door for getting rid of the meat smell on the way out! Such a nice touch! Finish it off with a cup of coffee for dessert and it's perfect!
