Inside Don Gueo: atmosphere and seating for 56
Walking into Don Gueo, I immediately felt a warm, homey atmosphere! It's a certified Jeju black pork restaurant that opened in 2014, and being family-run really came through in the vibe.
With seating for up to 56 people, it's a spacious and comfortable place perfect for group gatherings or family outings! You could feel from the lively atmosphere that it's beloved by both locals and tourists!

Don Gueo uses a low-temperature aging method that preserves the meat's natural flavor while keeping the juices locked in, resulting in meat that's more tender and full of flavor — I was excited even before I sat down!

What we ordered and what it cost: Jeju black pork set for two, ₩42,000
This time we ordered the Jeju black pork set for two at ₩42,000, cold noodles for dessert at ₩5,000, and steamed egg at ₩4,000. The Jeju black pork set is a limited menu only available from 11am to 4pm!
A set with aged black pork belly, black pork kimchi jjigae, and rice included for ₩42,000 for two people — the value was genuinely excellent! The cold noodles at ₩5,000 and steamed egg at ₩4,000 were also so reasonable that we could enjoy everything without any worry!

What side dishes come with the Don Gueo set?
There was a great spread — scallion salad, aged kimchi, bracken fern, spicy radish salad, seasoned bean sprouts, stir-fried fish cake, and lettuce and perilla leaves — plus grilled cheese, which made me happy from the start!
The scallion salad had a pungent, tangy flavor that paired perfectly with the meat, and the aged kimchi was deeply fermented with a spicy, savory flavor that matched the black pork so well! The bracken fern was chewy and nutty, giving it that distinctly Jeju feel, and the spicy radish salad's tangy-sweet, crunchy texture perfectly cut through the richness! The seasoned bean sprouts were crisp and clean, refreshing the palate between bites of meat, and the stir-fried fish cake's salty, savory flavor really woke up the appetite!

Steamed egg, ₩4,000
The steamed egg looked so cute and appetizing, puffed up fluffy in its stone bowl! The texture was soft, almost melting in the mouth, giving a cozy feeling with every spoonful!
The flavor was rich with the egg's natural savory, mild taste, seasoned just right with salt — after a bite of meat, a spoonful of steamed egg cleansed the palate smoothly!

How does Don Gueo's aged black pork belly taste?
Wow!! The aged black pork we ordered arrived! The cross-section showed clear layers of fat, showing off the freshness from low-temperature aging!
Finally, the aged black pork belly and mushrooms went onto the grill! The sight of the thick pork belly next to the mushrooms already looked delicious!

Watching the meat and mushrooms sizzle side by side on the grill was so mouthwatering, and seeing the black pork fat soak into the mushrooms as they turned golden brown made me drool just looking at it!
The aged black pork belly had a great dual texture — thick cuts grilled crisp on the outside while staying moist and tender inside!! Thanks to the low-temperature aging method locking in the juices, biting in gave a burst of juice that was truly excellent!

The aged black pork belly had that deep, rich Jeju black pork aroma filling my mouth, along with the soft, flavorful taste unique to aged meat! It had a depth of umami far beyond regular pork belly — the kind of addictive taste that makes you reach for another piece! Wrapped with aged kimchi, the spicy kick blended with the black pork's savoriness to bring out even more flavor, and paired with the scallion salad, the pungent taste cut through the richness perfectly!

Mushrooms grilled in black pork fat
The mushrooms soaked up the black pork fat on the grill, becoming chewy and plump! Biting in, you get a rich, savory meaty aroma rising from the fat-soaked mushrooms — I never knew mushrooms alone could taste this good! Eating the pork belly and mushroom together in one bite, the rich meat juice and the mushroom's chewy texture blended into a totally amazing combination!
Black pork kimchi jjigae included in the set
The black pork kimchi jjigae looked bubbling hot, with a savory, spicy aroma wafting up right away! The red broth was packed generously with black pork!
I took a spoonful of the broth first, and the deep umami of the aged kimchi blended with the rich black pork stock filled my mouth with a deep, savory flavor! It wasn't overly spicy but had a deep flavor that made me want spoonful after spoonful! The meat was tender, pulling apart along the grain, deeply infused with the stew's flavor, so every bite brought out rich umami! Eating it with rice, the deep broth flavor soaked evenly into every grain — I finished the whole bowl in no time!

Cheese grilled right on the pan
The grilled cheese melting on the grill and stretching out looked absolutely amazing! Eating it with the meat, the savory cheese flavor blended with the black pork's richness — a total dream combination!

Cold buckwheat noodles for dessert, ₩5,000
The cold noodles looked so refreshing right away, with the bouncy noodles topped neatly with garnishes! The noodles had a chewy, springy texture with every bite, and the cool, clean broth clung nicely to the noodles! Finishing off the black pork with a bowl of cold noodles cleansed the palate completely, leaving a long, refreshing aftertaste.
Who should eat at Don Gueo in Sehwa?
From the low-temperature aged Jeju black pork to the rich black pork kimchi jjigae, steamed egg, and cold noodles for dessert, nothing here disappointed!
