Couple's last-call cream almond lattes at a Mapo café: Ieo Coffee

In short

Ieo Coffee Roasters Gongdeok Branch is a roastery café in Mapo, Seoul, between the Gyeongui Line Forest Path and Daeheung and Gongdeok stations. Visiting with her partner right before closing, the writer found every dessert sold out but still enjoyed the signature cream almond latte and an almond latte at a window seat with a full glass wall. The cream was thick and sweet enough to call this an Einspänner destination, and it's a solid date spot for good conversation.

Today I'm sharing a café near Daeheung Station that my partner and I visited together — Ieo Coffee Roasters Gongdeok Branch, right along the Gyeongui Line Forest Path and great for conversation! Our couple walks the Forest Path so often, and we'd always noticed this café in passing. This time we got a good opportunity to visit, so here's my review!

Finding it from the Gyeongui Line Forest Path and Daeheung Station

Ieo Coffee Roasters Gongdeok is located right near the Gyeongui Line Forest Path and both Daeheung and Gongdeok stations! You can spot the aesthetic café from far away, so it was super easy to find. It opens at 8am on weekdays, so it seemed like a spot the nearby office workers rely on a lot!

Store atmosphere and the window seats

Walking inside, the natural light pouring in made a strong impression! It's not a huge space, but there were more tables than expected, so I immediately thought it was a great café to sit comfortably and talk haha. Just looking at the store, you can feel the owner's sense of style filling the space.

They were also selling super cute, reasonably priced merch t-shirts! The wall side is a full glass window, so the lighting is great and it's a total photo spot! Our couple sat at the window seat and took a bunch of selfies haha.

Menu lineup and drip coffee

The menu was simply put together! With coffee items, signature items, and non-coffee items, it was a lineup that really showed their seriousness about coffee haha. Being a roastery café, they also sell drip coffee, so if you're into coffee, I recommend trying it!

Visiting right before closing — every dessert sold out

We visited pretty much right before closing, so unfortunately every dessert had already sold out ㅠㅠ. So we ended up just ordering two drinks! I really recommend you all go early so you can try the desserts too — I hear they're famous for being delicious.

A shot of the store while we waited for our order! Just this kind of space — full of a vibe that's not common in the neighborhood — is exactly my type ㅠㅠ. How great would it be if there were more cafés like this around?

How were the cream almond latte and almond latte?

Ta-da! Here's the menu! My partner ordered the almond latte, and I tried the signature cream almond latte! After visiting so many cafés, I can pretty much tell from the visuals alone whether a place is good or not... and these just look delicious, right?

Two cups: cream almond latte and almond latte

The cream almond latte I ordered had a generous layer of thick, sweet cream piled on top! I dug into the cream first, and — wow, this is genuinely an Einspänner destination.

My partner wanted a taste too, so I specially gave up a sip haha. It's been a while since I had a latte with cream this good, and I felt happier the moment I drank it haha.

Cream almond latte after a bite of the cream

The owner told us to stir it well before drinking, so I did! Sweet, nutty, and with the espresso's bitterness all coming together in such good balance — it's a menu that really deserves to be called a signature haha.

The size was on the smaller side, which was a bit of a letdown, but the coffee itself was so good that it was easy to sip right through it!

This Daeheung Station café with such a lovely atmosphere, Ieo Coffee Roasters Gongdeok Branch, is one I'd recommend to couples as a Gyeongui Line Forest Path date course, and a must-visit on days when you're craving really good coffee! Every coffee menu item is delicious, and I hear the Basque cheesecake and cookies are especially great among the desserts, so be sure to try them..!! Our couple plans to come back next time for dessert along with more delicious coffee! Haha.
