Sunday set for two split three ways at Withwich, Guwol-dong brunch

I went for brunch in Guwol-dong after a long while. The place is called Withwich, a Blue Ribbon-listed brunch spot I'd been curious about for ages. We visited on a Sunday afternoon, three of us, and ordered the pasta and wood-fired pizza set for two plus one sandwich on top. It was quite a spread for three people, and spoiler: we ended up packing the sandwich to go, haha.

What Withwich looks like inside and out

Withwich is a red brick building that catches your eye from far away, giving it an exotic feel right from the outside. Instead of the clean white-tone café look you see everywhere these days, it has that warm, vintage character particular to red brick, which suited the brunch-restaurant feel well.

Once you open the door, the interior isn't too far from the exterior's mood. One downside was that the tables weren't spaced very far apart, so it felt a bit cramped. Overall it wasn't so much a formal restaurant as a comfortable place to chat with friends or go on a date.

Withwich menu and what three of us ordered

You order at a kiosk, and since this place is famous as a brunch spot, I genuinely couldn't decide what to get.

After scanning the menu slowly, I ordered mostly from the items marked BEST.

What we ordered was the pasta and wood-fired pizza set for two. It comes with pasta, pizza, and two drinks — we picked arrabbiata for the pasta and arugula ricotta cheese pizza. Just note that certain menu choices come with extra charges. We also went with ade instead of the basic drink, adding ₩1,000 each for the lemon ade and the green grape ade.

The basic salad had ricotta cheese in it, which I love!!! It wasn't just a token side salad — the vegetables were fresh and the ricotta made it a nice light bite before the mains arrived.

The arrabbiata is a tomato-based pasta with a spicy kick, so it's not greasy and tastes like the familiar version — just note it's not that spicy.

I chose the arugula ricotta cheese pizza because I love arugula, and it suited my taste perfectly. Being a wood-fired pizza, the dough wasn't too thick, and topped with arugula and ricotta cheese, it paired well even alongside the pasta.

For the ade, we picked lemon and green grape, the two best sellers at the shop. The portions were really generous — perfect for sharing between two.

How big is the spicy perilla leaf bulgogi sandwich?

The menu that surprisingly stuck with me most from this visit was the spicy perilla leaf bulgogi sandwich. Honestly, since we'd already ordered pasta and pizza, I figured we'd just add one sandwich lightly to share — but once it arrived, this turned out to be a must-order item.

The filling inside was quite substantial, with bulgogi and perilla leaves packed in, making it feel heartier than a typical brunch sandwich.

With three of us also eating the other dishes, we ended up leaving about half the sandwich. It felt like a waste to just leave it, so we packed it to take home — for someone with a small appetite like me, it was enough to count as a full meal, so I had it for lunch the next day, haha.

Is Withwich worth it for Sunday brunch in Guwol-dong?

This time, with three of us visiting, we got to order a range of dishes and try pasta, wood-fired pizza, and sandwich all in one sitting, which was great. Most of all, the sandwich portion was bigger than expected, so overall the spread never felt lacking. Just keep in mind that even with the set, certain menu choices carry extra charges. Living up to its Blue Ribbon listing, this is a place worth trying next time you want brunch in Guwol-dong.
