I wanted a hearty dinner in Cheongdam, so I headed to Bogi-o Boguk, Cheongdam branch! That day I was craving a warm, clean broth so I went with milbok jiri (clear pufferfish soup)! Bogi-o Boguk, a pufferfish specialty restaurant in Cheongdam!
Where is Bogi-o Boguk in Cheongdam, and how does valet parking work?
Bogi-o Boguk is a pufferfish restaurant on the 2nd floor of the Deokyoung Building on Dosan-daero in Cheongdam. Valet parking was available, which I loved! The staff handling the cars were friendly too!

The restaurant is on the building's 2nd floor — once you arrive and flash your hazards, a valet staff member comes right out! Parking was easy, and I took the elevator up to the 2nd floor!
Right as you step off the elevator!

The whole place had a clean, tidy atmosphere! The dining room was spacious and comfortable!

Ordering the clear milbok pufferfish soup (jiri)
That day at Bogi-o Boguk, I ordered the wild milbok jiri! You could choose clear or spicy!
Next time I want to try the raw parbok sashimi! Watching the food come out at the table next to me, it looked really clean and well plated!

Being a pufferfish specialty restaurant might sound a bit intimidating, but there are dishes like bokjiri that work as a regular meal, so it seemed like a good spot for nearby office workers or a hangover-curing lunch too!

Private rooms at Bogi-o Boguk for groups and company dinners
Bogi-o Boguk also has private rooms, so you can eat privately for gatherings, company dinners, and the like!

The atmosphere was upscale and lovely, too

Bogi-o Boguk also has a wide range of spirits and drinks, which was great! A place you can enjoy however you like!

Table setting and side dishes at Bogi-o Boguk
Soy sauce for dipping the pufferfish meat, vinegar for the soup, and chojang were all neatly set at every table!
There was even a water bowl! Just for drinking water!
The basic side dishes were stir-fried fish cake, seasoned perilla leaves, stir-fried anchovies, and kkakdugi (radish kimchi). The wasabi soy sauce was a must too!
None of the side dishes at Bogi-o Boguk were overly strong in flavor — they had a homemade feel! I could've eaten a whole bowl of rice with just the sides!

How did the wild milbok pufferfish soup taste?
The pufferfish soup arrived! I was craving a warm broth that day, and this was exactly the right dish! Seeing the milbok jiri bubbling away in the earthenware pot warmed me up just by looking at it. It was packed with pufferfish, broth, bean sprouts, and minari. The pufferfish was domestic too, so I could eat with confidence!

I tried the broth first — clean and refreshing! I hadn't been drinking, but it tasted like the perfect hangover cure!!!!

Rather than a harshly spicy or salty broth, it let you really taste the clean, delicate flavor coming from the pufferfish itself!

And the milbok meat itself had a springy, chewy texture!! Eaten together with the broth, it was clean and light, so my spoon kept going back for more!

A flavor that keeps you scooping up the broth!

This especially felt like the kind of flavor I'd think of when craving a clean broth at lunchtime!

And the portion of pufferfish was generous! So springy and delicious!!

A dab of pufferfish meat in the wasabi soy sauce! Turns out I really do love pufferfish....!

The perilla leaves weren't too salty and were really tasty too! I hadn't planned on eating rice, but I finished a whole bowl......
Add vinegar and the pufferfish broth turns milky
Did you know that adding vinegar to pufferfish soup makes the broth turn milky?

Add just a little and it doesn't ruin the flavor — it actually boosts the appetite factor!

The broth turns milky! I added a bit of vinegar as I ate, then more toward the end for a tangy finish, and honestly that was its own delicacy. A flavor that keeps pulling you back!

So many bean sprouts too!!!! Crunchy and crisp!!!

Is Bogi-o Boguk in Cheongdam worth a dinner visit?
What I liked most at Bogi-o Boguk was the refreshing, clean broth! The springy texture of the milbok meat was the best part too! If you're craving pufferfish dishes in Cheongdam, or a clean broth without harsh flavors, I recommend Bogi-o Boguk!!
The table next to me was having the course meal — next time I visit, I'm going to try the Bogi-o Boguk course menu.
