Cheongdam pufferfish soup for a sore throat: Bogi-o Boguk
In short
Bogi-o Boguk is a pufferfish restaurant on the 2nd floor of a building near Exit 13 of Cheongdam Station in Gangnam, Seoul, and it serves all day with no break time. On a day with a sore throat, the writer and her boyfriend ordered the Gyeongsang-style stone-pot milbok (fine pufferfish) clear soup, which came with 4-5 big pieces of pufferfish in a broth as refreshing as bean sprout soup and cleared her up right away. Bogi-o Boguk is a good pick whenever you want a hot, clear pufferfish soup to warm up and recover.

My boyfriend and I went to Bogi-o Boguk, a no-break-time restaurant serving pufferfish soup, to get some body-warming nourishment. I had a sore throat and was craving something hot... and it just so happened there was a Cheongdam-dong spot selling pufferfish soup, so we headed straight there.
Where is Bogi-o Boguk? 2nd floor near Cheongdam Station Exit 13
Bogi-o Boguk is a pufferfish soup restaurant on the 2nd floor of a building near Exit 13 of Cheongdam Station. The directions there were detailed, so it was easy to find!! Just follow the signs up to the 2nd floor and you'll arrive at Bogi-o Boguk.

Bogi-o Boguk, with "KOREAN FUGU RESTAURANT" written on the sign.

There's a menu board outside too, so it's easy to check it out beforehand!

What is the seating inside Bogi-o Boguk like?
The inside of Bogi-o Boguk is REALLY spacious. The seats are big and varied, so it seems like a good place to come with a group too? It's perfect as a spot for a get-together with friends!

The tables at each seat are especially wide, so it seems fine to order several dishes at once. By the way, the restroom is located outside the restaurant, but it was clean, so it was comfortable to use haha.
Bogi-o Boguk menu and pufferfish dishes
Here's the menu! At Bogi-o Boguk you can enjoy a variety of pufferfish dishes, from refreshing pufferfish soup to jambok (true puffer) sashimi, boiled true puffer, pufferfish karaage, seasoned puffer skin, and pufferfish bulgogi. There are also tons of pufferfish soup varieties.

We ordered the milbok (fine pufferfish), which looked like great value. By the way, the live octopus pufferfish soup and live abalone pufferfish soup are sold in limited quantities daily, so I'd recommend going early to try them!!
Side dishes and dipping sauces
The basic side dishes at Bogi-o Boguk had that cozy taste of home cooking. They tasted even better with rice! The pickled perilla leaves in particular were surprisingly delicious — my boyfriend and I cleaned the plate haha.

Dipping sauces like soy sauce and vinegar-chili sauce (chojang) are also provided.

Milbok clear soup: Gyeongsang-style stone-pot pufferfish soup
I ordered the milbok pufferfish soup hoping it would really clear out my congestion! The pufferfish soups at Bogi-o Boguk are Gyeongsang-style, so they come out in a hot stone pot.

Thanks to that, we got to eat it piping hot for a long time! Since it comes in a stone pot, it doesn't cool down easily, which was even better.

With enoki mushrooms, bean sprouts, water dropwort, and milbok inside, we could taste crunchiness, cleanness, and nuttiness all at once.

The broth tasted refreshing, like a bean sprout soup, perfect for curing a hangover. There were also a ton of bean sprouts, good to eat along with the broth and the milbok. Eating it with the rice that came alongside was filling and soothed my stomach.

There were also 4-5 big pieces of milbok in there, so we could eat until we were full haha. With so much milbok packed in, finishing just one bowl of pufferfish soup felt like proper body-warming nourishment!!

Soy sauce or chojang (red chili vinegar sauce)?
The milbok was firm and clean-tasting, perfect for nourishing the body. Dipped in the wasabi-soy sauce that came with it, I could taste saltiness, cleanness, nuttiness, and chewiness all together. My boyfriend dipped his in chojang (vinegar-chili sauce), and if you're a chojang person, you might like that even more?! The combo of sweet-and-sour chojang with the clean-tasting milbok is addictive too. Still, I think dipping it in soy sauce is the cleanest way to eat it haha.
