Chinese lunch course near Sinsa Station with a pregnant sister: Samsin

In short

Samsin Garosu-gil is a Korean-Chinese-Japanese fusion Chinese restaurant a 3-minute walk from Exit 8 of Sinsa Station in Gangnam, Seoul. Visiting with her pregnant older sister, the writer booked a two-person table on the 2nd floor through Naver Reservations and shared the Samsin Course A lunch: snow crab soup, a handmade dim sum sampler, Tokyo-style tangsuyuk (sweet and sour pork), meat jjamppong (spicy noodle soup) and Taean potato jjajangmyeon (black bean noodles). With its deep, meaty jjamppong broth and a yuzu pudding to finish, Samsin Garosu-gil is an easy place to enjoy a full Chinese course on Garosu-gil.

What comes with the Samsin Course A lunch?

We ordered Samsin Garosu-gil's lunch course, Samsin Course A. I thought a Chinese course meal on Garosu-gil would be pretty pricey, but Samsin lets you enjoy a course fairly affordably, which I liked!

Stylish dining hall of the Chinese restaurant

The interior had a stylish vibe, different from a typical Chinese restaurant — the tableware was elegant too.

Spacious interior with room seating

The place is spacious with room seating too, so it'd be great for family meals, gatherings, or work dinners! Recommended!

Gonggalppang served before the meal

They serve gonggalppang (hollow puffed bread) before the meal! Sweet and delicious — perfect for nibbling before the food arrives!

Sokcho snow crab soup and the side dishes

The first course of Samsin Course A was Sokcho crab soup. Soft, warm, and savory!

It had been a while since I'd had soup, and it was so warming and filling!

Side dishes were pickled radish, dim sum soy sauce, and kimchi! That ginger dim sum soy sauce was seriously delicious!

Handmade dim sum sampler: worth ordering even if dim sum isn't your thing

I heard the handmade dim sum sampler at Samsin Garosu-gil is made in-house! I don't usually like dim sum much, so I had no expectations, but — seriously recommend the dim sum here!!

I wanted to order it as a separate dish too!

So moist and delicious! Both of us went 'oh? this is really good..?' after our first bite!

Juicy filling inside the dim sum

Full of juice — blow on it before you eat, seriously! The filling was packed with juicy broth and so tender, and the wrapper wasn't heavy at all, a great balance!

Packed full inside! Samsin Garosu-gil's course composition is great — highly recommend it if you want to try a bit of everything like we did!

Tokyo tangsuyuk and its pat of butter

Tokyo tangsuyuk topped with butter

The Tokyo tangsuyuk (sweet and sour pork) at Samsin Garosu-gil had a tasty sauce, and a slice of butter added extra richness! The meat was thick too!

Thick tangsuyuk pork with sauce poured over it

I wasn't sure how big the portions would be in a course, but the Tokyo tangsuyuk was generous! And even with the sauce poured over it, it stayed crispy outside, tender inside!

Look how thick that pork is! Packed with meat! I personally prefer sauce poured over rather than on the side, so this was great for me! A distinctive flavor I think I'll keep craving — one you can probably only get at Samsin Garosu-gil!

Why Samsin's meat jjamppong broth tastes so rich

A bowl of meat jjamppong at Samsin Garosu-gil

I ordered meat jjamppong for my main! Samsin Garosu-gil is a jjamppong spot!!!!!!!! The broth was genuinely deep and rich! It was so good I made my friend try it, and we ended up sharing it!!!! Good food has to be shared, after all

Jjamppong broth packed with meat and vegetables

Samsin Garosu-gil's meat jjamppong was packed with meat and vegetables! The broth was truly a meat broth! If you love a rich jjamppong broth like I do, the meat jjamppong is a must!

Taean potato jjajangmyeon

My friend ordered the Taean potato jjajangmyeon for her main! She gave me a bite..!

Jajangmyeon with potato mixed in

The potatoes were fluffy and lightly sweet, so delicious! Overall it wasn't too heavy or strong-flavored, and it was loaded with ingredients — really good!

Dessert: yuzu pudding

For dessert they gave us pudding with yuzu.. I don't eat pudding often, but why was this so good..? My friend, watching her blood sugar during pregnancy, said she'd have just one bite — but couldn't stop!

Dessert was perfect too!
