I went to Songdo, Incheon this time and stopped by Sushi Doku The Songdo for some good sushi! It kept coming up whenever I searched for sushi spots in Songdo, so I was curious, and visiting in person, I could see why it's popular haha!!!

There was a wait even on a weekend morning

I visited on a weekend morning! I figured being the weekend I could eat a little more leisurely, but sure enough there was already a wait when I arrived 😂 I guess popular restaurants have waits regardless of weekday or weekend! Especially as it gets closer to lunchtime, more people flood in, so if you're planning to visit, it's good to go a bit early or check ahead whether reservations are possible!

What's in the ₩25,900 premium sushi set

I ordered the premium sushi set! It's not just sushi on its own but a full set meal you can enjoy together, so it felt like a proper meal on its own. On top of that, freshly fried, crispy warm tempura and a hot soup dish came as sides too, so it didn't feel like a simple meal but like being properly treated! The freshness of the ingredients and the clean presentation stood out, and everything was set neatly, so it was great for photos too. 🤍

Dishes you can enjoy alongside the sushi came out too, so the whole table was filled generously.

Because all of this comes together, it was great being able to eat a variety of things besides just sushi!

You brush the soy sauce onto the sushi

Usually you dip sushi in soy sauce, but there was a brush provided so you could brush the soy sauce onto the sushi instead. I thought this was convenient and nice!

The composition was really satisfying, good from the very first bite all the way to the dessert-like final dish!! The sushi topped with thick cuts of fresh seasonal fish had the rice-to-topping ratio just right, and a savory umami spread the more I chewed!

My thoughts after visiting

I thought it might feel a bit chaotic since the place is so popular and has a wait, but the staff guided us well and were friendly, so I had a pleasant meal! 👍🏻 If I visit again, I want to try other sushi set menus too :) Since weekends can mean a wait, I'd recommend visiting with a bit of extra time to spare!
