A place I visited because I wanted sushi for lunch before shopping at the Hyundai Premium Outlet! I went to Sushi Doku The Songdo, known as a sushi spot in Songdo, Incheon. Sushi Doku is already a well-known sushi chain with several branches in Seoul too.

11am opening run: the wait and seating

I timed my visit for the 11am opening, but when I arrived, people were already waiting. There were seats set up in front of the restaurant so I could wait sitting down. Right at 11, a staff member came out and seated people in order of arrival. Seating happened faster than expected, but the place had so many customers it filled up quickly too.
The seating felt more spacious than expected, with mostly 4-person tables, so it seemed fine for groups too. Above all, since it's a sushi place, food turnover is fast, so even with a wait, you probably wouldn't have to wait long.

I looked around the interior for a bit. Overall a clean vibe. There was a drink fridge next to our table that looked pretty, so I took a photo.
Toward the back you could see the open kitchen, so I got a little glimpse of the sushi being prepared. 🍣
Menu lineup — from set meals to à la carte sushi

Sushi Doku The Songdo has a wide variety of menu items ready. There are set meals with sushi as the main dish plus udon, salad, and tempura, good for a full meal, and there are several types of sets so you can choose according to taste. Besides the sets, there are à la carte items from sashimi to tempura and udon, and even a sushi à la carte menu where you can pick out only the sushi pieces you want — quite a range of choices!

We ordered two Premium Sushi Set Meals, which come with 10 pieces of sushi plus salad, tempura, udon and chawanmushi (steamed egg custard), and

a sweet-tart yuzu tea.
Chawanmushi, tempura, salad, udon — the side dishes

The chawanmushi was soft and warm, good for whetting the appetite, and

the shrimp tempura came out crispy and the karaage (Japanese fried chicken) was bite-sized and easy to eat. 🍤
The salad had a refreshing dressing that cleaned the palate nicely alongside the light sushi.
A soy sauce brush came out too, handy for brushing soy sauce onto the sushi.
Udon came with the set too, and the portion was pretty generous! The broth was rich and warm, and eating it with the sushi felt filling and comforting. I personally liked it a lot — but more than that, my mom liked it so much she ate my udon too 🍜
The Premium Sushi Set's 10 pieces — what's in it

Now for the real sushi feast 🍣 The 10-piece set included a variety: snow crab, eel, red shrimp, squid, salmon, flounder, sweet shrimp, akami (lean tuna), anki (monkfish liver), and more. It was fun tasting each one. Personally, the sweet shrimp and red shrimp sushi were especially delicious. The shrimp had a plump, sweet flavor that stuck with me 🦐

Time for the close-up shots no pro blogger can skip 📸 I carefully photographed each piece of sushi up close. 🍣 🍣 Of course… some of the sushi went straight into my mouth before I could even take a photo, so there's no close-up haha. Timing really is everything when it comes to food photos.

Premium otoro from the receipt review event
And there was an event sign on the table! 👀 They were running a promotion where leaving a receipt review got you one piece of premium sushi per person. I can't just walk past something like this haha. So after eating well, I made sure to leave a thorough review too ✍🏻

And the premium otoro sushi appeared! The reddish color alone was so glossy I couldn't not take a photo. Picked up a piece and — nom! 🤤 Being a set meal, the overall portion was pretty generous, so I ended up really full!

How was it as lunch before shopping at the outlet?
After filling up nicely, off to the outlet to shop 🛍️ Eating well before shopping was just right.
If you want sushi near the Hyundai outlet in Songdo, I'd recommend Sushi Doku The Songdo! There's a good variety of sushi, and it comes with chawanmushi, tempura and udon, so the portions were pretty generous overall. The shrimp sushi in particular was delicious.
