With the mornings and evenings turning cooler, I got a craving for sashimi, so my boyfriend and I stopped by Rigo Susan, an aged-sashimi specialist, right after work. And it turns out Rigo Susan also sells raw shrimp?!¡ I'd genuinely wanted to try raw shrimp for so long but never had the confidence to prep it myself — so today was the day my wish came true.☘︎ ݁˖

Getting there: 4 minutes from Jeonpo Station Exit 8
Located a 4-minute walk from Exit 8 of Jeonpo Station, Rigo Susan is easy to get to. Turns out this was the place I'd noticed always packed whenever I walked through Jeonpo — small world, haha.

Inside Rigo Susan: seating and atmosphere
Inside, Rigo Susan is spacious, clean, and pleasant.ᐟ With both 2-seat and 4-seat tables, it's a great spot whether you're coming as a couple or a bigger group.
When we arrived we were the very first customers, so I could comfortably photograph the space — but as soon as we ordered, more and more customers started arriving.

Rigo Susan menu and prices
The main menu comes in small/medium/large sizes: live shrimp platter, mixed sashimi platter (from ₩19,000), mixed sashimi + raw shrimp platter, mixed sashimi + dalma shrimp platter, aged salmon sashimi, and dalma shrimp platter.

8 side dishes, refills for ₩2,000
Just as I'd heard, the banchan lineup was seriously stacked. Salad, corn cheese, okonomiyaki, California roll, soy-marinated salmon, cold udon, fried food, tteokbokki — a whopping 8 kinds 𝗓 ᶻ You can refill the banchan for an extra ₩2,000. My picks were the California roll and the tteokbokki (so good).

What comes with the ₩59,000 raw shrimp & aged sashimi platter
Finally, today's star dish arrives: the raw shrimp & aged sashimi platter, ₩59,000. It comes with raw shrimp, four kinds of aged sashimi, and even sushi. The visuals alone made me want to dig in immediately 𝗓 ᶻ From other reviews I'd seen, the aged sashimi lineup changes each time — probably because the live fish they source varies day to day.

I'd been told the raw shrimp could still move, and I'd seen it in other bloggers' posts too, but seeing it actually flopping around right in front of me still made me jump 𝗓 ᶻ I couldn't even imagine how fresh it was. I quickly and neatly pulled off the heads and asked to have them fried.

What does the live raw shrimp taste like?
After all that waiting, one bite of the raw shrimp — and wow, this little guy is genuinely delicious. Fresh, with an amazing bouncy bite ✴︎˚⋆⋮ If you still haven't tried raw shrimp, you have to have it at Rigo Susan.

Fried shrimp heads: the best part of the platter
And then there's the fried shrimp heads — what even is this. I thought, how good could it possibly be, but it was seriously delicious. Turns out I'm someone who likes fried shrimp heads. I felt sad every time the pile got smaller.

Neatly pulling off the eyes and horns, then popping it in one bite. I saved the last one for later and ate it slowly, haha.

Making mini sushi with the aged sashimi
You can also use Rigo Susan's aged sashimi to make your own mini sushi.

It tasted even better paired with the perilla leaves, garlic, chili, and white kimchi that came alongside. With 4 different types, we got to try a nice variety.
