Yongsan tteokbokki lunch before a CGV stage greeting: Hyeonseonine
In short
Hyeonseonine Yongsan Main Branch is a bunsik (Korean snack food) restaurant on Yongridan-gil in Yongsan, Seoul, about a 5-minute walk from Sinyongsan Station Exit 6, where you boil instant tteokbokki at your table. Stopping in for lunch before a stage greeting at Yongsan CGV, the writer ordered mild instant tteokbokki with fried rice and 4 fried mandu, and the tteokbokki arrived with jjolmyeon (chewy wheat noodles) and 2 eggs included. The rice cakes stayed chewy and the jjolmyeon soaked up the sauce well, and the fried rice — bland on its own — tasted great once tteokbokki broth was stirred in.

If you love tteokbokki, gather round!!! Yongridan-gil favorite Hyeonseonine Yongsan Main Branch!
Here's a piping-hot Yongridan-gil spot I visited today, haha!! My boyfriend loves Swings, and when we heard Swings appeared in Tazza, we booked tickets for the stage greeting at Yongsan CGV!! Since we were already in Yongsan, we figured — let's have lunch in Yongridan-gil! — and that's how we found Yongridan-gil favorite "Hyeonseonine Yongsan Main Branch"!! I really love tteokbokki (spicy rice cakes) — I actually had rabokki (tteokbokki with ramen) last night too, kyokyo… but tteokbokki is something you can eat every single day~~~
Tteokbokki yesterday, tteokbokki today, haha. Today at Yongridan-gil favorite "Hyeonseonine Yongsan Main Branch" we had instant tteokbokki! Our order came with instant tteokbokki + fried rice + 4 fried mandu (dumplings)!!

Where Hyeonseonine Yongsan Main Branch is, and what the place feels like
Hyeonseonine Yongsan Main Branch is close to Sinyongsan Station! It's about 5 minutes from Exit 6. I'll show you the location on the map!!
The interior was quite spacious! Even so, we arrived just after noon and by the time we were eating, a line had already formed! It's not famous in Yongridan-gil for nothing!!

Small plates and pickled radish are self-serve! You just grab them from the self-serve bar!

The menu and picking your spice level
Here's the menu at Yongsan favorite Hyeonseonine! We ordered instant tteokbokki, but besides that you can also order regular à la carte tteokbokki, and there are set menus too — good for anyone who has trouble deciding!! My boyfriend can't handle spicy food well, so we went with mild spice, haha.

I liked that each chair had a spot to store your bag!

What comes with the instant tteokbokki: jjolmyeon, 2 eggs, 4 mandu and fried rice
Our instant tteokbokki arrived! There's an induction burner on the table, so the uncooked tteokbokki comes out and you boil it yourself! I noticed jjolmyeon (chewy wheat noodles) came with the tteokbokki! I thought it would just be rice cakes, so seeing the noodles made me happy, haha. There were also 2 eggs in it.

4 mandu (dumplings) came out too! We tossed 2 of them into the tteokbokki to boil together!

Fried rice came out as well! You're meant to fry it later with a bit of leftover broth once you've finished the tteokbokki!

How do you set the induction heat?
There were instant tteokbokki tips posted on the wall! Start the heat at 2000, and once it's boiling hard, lower it to 800, then turn the power off! And for the fried rice, use 600! Not too hard, right? ㅎㅅㅎ!!

The tteokbokki bubbling away, cooking nicely~ I can't wait to eat, ㅎㅅㅎ!!

How did the mild instant tteokbokki taste?
Once the tteokbokki was fully cooked, we tasted it! First, we dipped one of the mandu we hadn't put in the pot into the tteokbokki sauce.
Then we ate the jjolmyeon, tteokbokki, and eggs together! The rice cakes were super chewy, and the jjolmyeon had soaked up so much of the tteokbokki sauce that it was delicious!! I told my boyfriend to hurry up and eat the noodles before they got soggy, haha. Personally, I hate soggy noodles the most, haha..!! Even ramyeon has to be firm for me~

Finishing with fried rice in the leftover broth
As we were nearly done with the tteokbokki, we moved the leftover tteokbokki and broth into an empty bowl. We left a bit of the broth in the pot and dropped in the fried rice!!

The fried rice was a bit bland at first, so I added some tteokbokki broth and it became delicious, haha. Fried rice made with tteokbokki broth is always, always good!

On our way out, I noticed there were waiting seats set up for customers in line!

If you're craving tteokbokki in Yongsan, I recommend giving Hyeonseonine Yongsan Main Branch a try^^
