My sister wanted to re-dye her hair black to cover an old dye job, so I recommended a cheap salon in Jeju. What to watch out for when booking on Naver Reservation

I went back and forth on which stylist to pick, but chose Leeyu since she had lots of reviews and they all looked great (I even checked her Instagram). I booked a weekday slot in advance through Naver Reservation. I originally had my ideal time booked, but accidentally canceled it and tried to rebook — turns out the whole week was fully blocked and I stressed out for nothing (ᵕ̣̣̥﹏ᵕ̣̣̥) Everyone, double-check your date, time, and requests before you confirm!

How to find the salon on Fashion Park 3F, Yongsan I'Park Mall

We flew in from Gimpo Airport and headed straight to Yongsan I'Park Mall. We arrived earlier than expected, so we wandered around the Dopamine Station at the mall before heading to Fashion Park at our reserved time. Walking into Fashion Park, you'll spot CHICOR right away, and if you keep walking you'll see CUEREN — JUNO HAIR is right next to it!

Out front there's a cute handwritten price board, and every window is covered in quotes about hair. I snapped a photo of the cutest one 📸

Busy even on a weekday afternoon, but still comfortable

Even though it was a weekday afternoon, the salon was packed with customers. But since the space is so spacious, it never felt crowded — it stayed comfortable throughout.

At the entrance, staff kindly guided us to a waiting seat and brought us a drink and some snacks. There were plenty of books at the waiting area too, good for killing time. Later, they even moved my seat closer to my sister while she got her hair done so I could wait nearby (I really appreciated how thoughtful they were even to me, someone not getting anything done).

The magic setting perm step by step, from shampoo to C-curl rods

The magic setting started in the shampoo room, checking her hair's condition first. She was taken there right away and got a refreshing wash at just the right pressure so the stylist could properly assess her hair~~

On the shampoo room wall was a guide to the shampoos used there — they use 5 different types depending on hair condition. Somehow it made me feel like my scalp would get healthier just from reading it haha (oily scalp, sensitive scalp, dyed hair, perm hair nourishment, scalp and root strengthening).

After the wash, the stylist carefully examined her hair's condition!! She handled it so gently and kindly (and my sister successfully completed the selfie mission I gave her).

Now came the careful, meticulous application of the premium perm solution for the magic setting. Not a single strand missed~~ (she even moved us right up close so we could watch, which was fun 🤭)

After the perm solution was applied, heat was used — but the machine didn't seem to have any light on, so I asked if it was actually warm, and she said yes. It was so surprising! I guess the newest machines are that good these days..

After the heat treatment, she washed her hair once more and gave a simple trim. She said she'd do a proper design cut after everything was finished, but doing this mid-process touch-up made it feel even more thorough.

Why we switched from a slick perm to a layered C-curl

She originally wanted a straight, sleek slick perm look, but on Leeyu's recommendation she decided on a style with C-curl at the ends instead. Final decision: a layered cut with C-curl only at the tips! So rod work went in only at the ends.

Now for the stage of straightening it all out thoroughly! Whenever I think back on getting my hair done, this step always feels like the most important one for making the magic last (though it's also the most boring part..).

The straightening section took a while since they were so thorough, and at one point my sister dozed off and her head dropped ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ I caught the exact moment on camera. The pros kept working without missing a beat (๑ˊᗜˋ๑).

They finished up meticulously with the neutralizer step too~~~ The more they worked on it, the more the old black dye seemed to fade out.. and now it's approaching the finish line~~ (apparently if the black dye had been done properly in the first place, it wouldn't fade like this..🥹)

After the final shampoo and blow dry, they checked the style once more. They also kindly walked us through several ways to style it at home afterward! (You've got this, little sister 👁️)

How did the magic setting perm on damaged hair turn out?

And this is the final result ✨ natural layers and C-curl ends~~ I was so relieved the perm took beautifully with zero damage to her hair 🥹 (honestly I was really worried the perm wouldn't take well because of how damaged her hair was..)

Now she can finally wear her hair down~~~ Just need to sort out the dye color at some point..

No extra charges at checkout: the best part of the visit

What I liked most was that there were absolutely no sudden extra charges! These days a lot of salons lure you in with sale events or first-visit deals, then once you're there, tell you your hair condition requires this or that and rack up extra fees — but stylist Leeyu at JUNO HAIR Yongsan did none of that! (It's hard to say no once you're already there and they suddenly add on charges ㅠ..)

And honestly, from the very first greeting to the end, she was kind and made sure we never felt uncomfortable — huge props for that 👍 You're paying money at a salon, so who wants to leave feeling scolded? Plus the location is Yongsan, so you can get a nice new look and browse the pop-up stores for a mood boost too~~ She turned even the most Hagrid-like frizzy hair into smooth, bouncy, magic-straightened hair 〜(˶˘ ᵕ ˘˶)〜
