Bangi-dong sushi restaurant with free porridge starter: Susi Seon

In short

Susi Seon Bangi Branch is a sushi restaurant in Bangi-dong, Songpa, Seoul, a short walk from Songpanaru Station. The couple set (2 people) brings sushi, handmade pork cutlet and mini udon together, and before the mains arrive the restaurant serves complimentary pre-meal porridge and mini jjolmyeon (chewy cold noodles). Finding jjolmyeon at a sushi restaurant is a fun surprise, and the handmade sauce on the pork cutlet is the dish worth coming back for.

Walking around Olympic Park or the Bangi-dong restaurant alley, sometimes you just crave neat, well-made Japanese food. This time I visited Susi Seon Bangi Branch, a sushi restaurant in Bangi-dong that's become known for great value and generous portions.

I usually love pairing clean sushi with something crispy and fried, so I went in with high expectations. I left completely satisfied — it's easy to see why this place is considered one of the best sushi and Japanese restaurants near Jamsil.

Pre-meal porridge and jjolmyeon appetizers

At Susi Seon Bangi Branch, before the main course arrives, you get a warm porridge and refreshing jjolmyeon (chewy cold noodles) as appetizers to whet your appetite.

The soft, savory pre-meal porridge was perfect for gently warming up the stomach before eating. The mini jjolmyeon that came with it combined crunchy vegetables and a spicy-sweet sauce that stirred up my appetite from the first bite. Having jjolmyeon served as a default appetizer at a sushi restaurant felt unusual and delightfully unique.

🍣 Sushi: taste and impressions

The neatly plated main sushi was mouthwatering just to look at. The generous, clearly fresh cuts of fish on top made me look forward to every bite.

The set was packed with popular varieties — flounder, salmon, shrimp, egg, tuna wasabi, and more — with a good balance of rice and wasabi that let the fish's natural savory, clean flavor spread through the mouth. The chewy yet melt-in-your-mouth salmon paired with springy fish texture made every piece enjoyable.

🥩 Handmade pork cutlet: taste and impressions

The pork cutlet included in the set was genuinely better than expected. The restaurant makes its cutlets in-house, and it was crispy on the outside with juicy, tender meat packed inside.

The house-made sauce, in particular, was outstanding. It wasn't overpowering, but deep and sweetly savory, pairing perfectly with the crispy cutlet — it drew genuine gasps of appreciation. The quality rivaled dedicated cutlet specialty restaurants, and it was fun to enjoy alongside the sushi.

🍜 A perfect finish with mini udon

While enjoying the sushi and handmade pork cutlet, a warm mini udon also arrived, rounding out the spread even more.

Served in a small bowl, but the noodles had a lively, springy texture, and it was generously loaded with crown daisy greens and fried tofu, giving the broth a deep, refreshing flavor. Sipping the warm broth between bites of sushi felt like the perfect palate reset, and it wrapped up the meal cleanly and wonderfully.

Overall verdict

Susi Seon Bangi Branch delivered on the freshness of its main sushi, but also impressed with a high-quality handmade pork cutlet, warm mini udon, and even a pre-meal porridge and jjolmyeon — a full course that made it one of the best sushi restaurants in Bangi-dong.

The couple set alone was enough to leave two people happily full, and satisfaction was high. It's a place you can visit without hesitation whenever you're craving hearty, well-made Japanese food or a generous sushi set. If you're looking for a Japanese restaurant near Jamsil or Bangi-dong that delivers on both value and taste, I'd definitely recommend giving it a try.
