After watching Odyssey at Lotte Cinema in Lotte World Mall, Jamsil, and taking a walk around Seokchon Lake, I noticed the weather had turned pretty cool. 🍃 Weather like this practically calls for fresh sushi, right? 🤭 So I decided to eat sushi near Seokchon Lake and visited a sushi restaurant on the Bangi-dong restaurant strip!
How to get to Susi Seon Bangi Branch: 7 minutes from Songpanaru Station
Susi Seon Bangi Branch (스시선 방이점) is a budget-friendly sushi restaurant that has done business in the same spot on the Bangi-dong restaurant strip for over 10 years. It's about a 7-minute walk from Exit 2 of Songpanaru Station, or about 12 minutes from Exit 10 of Jamsil Station. 🚶♀️

Go straight from Exit 2 of Songpanaru Station, turn left at the Saemaul Geumgo bank and keep going straight — you'll find it on the right, in front of Bangitgol Children's Park.
What the Susi Seon storefront looks like

The restaurant sits on the ground floor of a building packed with various eateries. The sign has the large Chinese character '善 (seon)' on it, flanked by lit lanterns, so it was fairly easy to find even on my first visit. 🏮
I visited on a weekday evening around 6-7pm. Luckily there was no wait and I could go straight in. 😊
Seating at Susi Seon: solo-friendly bar seats and tables for 8

Sake and other Japanese liquor, along with objects that give off a Japanese atmosphere, are displayed all around the restaurant. It felt like stepping into a Japanese sushi shop the moment I walked in. 🇯🇵
Seating is split between bar seats where you can watch the kitchen, and regular table seats. There are about 4 bar seats and 16 table seats, with room for up to 8 people together.
It's great for solo dining at the bar, and also works for groups of 2 to 4-8, so it felt like a comfortable place to eat with friends, a partner, coworkers, or family. 👍

Ordering isn't done through a kiosk or QR code — you look at the menu board on the left side of the shop and order verbally from the owner. Personally, I actually found this more convenient. 🤭
The restroom is in the basement on the right side of the restaurant. You enter with a passcode, so there's no key to keep track of, and the code and instructions are written on the mirror by the entrance, so I didn't even need to ask the owner where it was.

The country of origin for the sushi ingredients is honestly listed too, so you can eat with peace of mind!

Starters: noodle salad with chojang, porridge and a self-serve refill station

I ordered the Today's Sushi 10pcs + mini udon and the Special Sushi 10pcs + mini soba.

Not long after ordering the main dishes, the starters came out — a vinegar noodle salad and a savory porridge, along with pickled shallots, pickled ginger, and pickled radish.

The vinegar noodle salad was tangy-sweet with a nice crunchy texture. It was a bit spicy for someone like me who can barely handle Shin Ramyun 🌶️, but my friend said it was just the right amount of sweet-spicy for a normal palate!

The porridge had a nutty, savory flavor with soft, well-chewed rice grains.

The pickled shallots, pickled ginger, and pickled radish could be self-refilled as much as you wanted right next to the bar table, which was convenient.
Today's Sushi 10pcs with mini udon for 13,000 won

₩13,000! A generous, classic set of flounder, salmon, tuna, king shrimp, soy-marinated shrimp, scallop, crab, smoked duck, egg, and tako. The fish was thicker than I expected, so my mouth felt satisfyingly full with each bite. 🤭

Basic sushi sets often skip tuna, so I liked that even the entry-level set here included it.

The egg sushi also had no fishy smell, with a thick, fluffy texture and rich flavor. The rice and wasabi were both well-proportioned, making everything harmonious to eat. The inclusion of a tako wasabi sushi piece was also a nice touch.

The name 'mini udon' made me think the portion would be small, but it was surprisingly hearty. Definitely not a one-or-two-bite size. 🍜
Special Sushi 10pcs with mini soba for 17,000 won

₩17,000. Getting sushi 10pcs that includes eel and sea urchin, plus a soba on the side, for 17,000 won felt like really solid value. 👍

The sea urchin was fresh with no fishy smell, and the eel sushi was well-seasoned too — not too sweet or salty.

Unlike Today's Sushi, this set had two pieces each of flounder, salmon, and tuna, so I'd especially recommend it to anyone who loves fish sushi.

The mini soba was nice and cool, perfect for cleansing the palate between bites of sushi. 😊 This place also offers takeout and delivery, for anyone who wants to keep that in mind!
Verdict: budget sushi in Songpa starting at 13,000 won
In short: a great budget sushi spot in Jamsil! For sushi starting at 13,000 won, you get thick cuts of fish plus udon or soba, so the value for money felt quite high. What impressed me most was the Special Sushi at 17,000 won, which includes eel and sea urchin. 👀
- ✔️ Anyone near Lotte World Mall in Jamsil or Seokchon Lake looking for affordable, good-value sushi
- ✔️ Anyone in Songpa looking for a light but tasty lunch spot on the Bangi-dong restaurant strip
- ✔️ Anyone who wants to enjoy good-value sushi solo, with friends, a partner, family, or coworkers
If you want sushi in Jamsil but also want to watch your budget, this place is worth a visit. 😊
