Yeouido IFC Mall sundae with organ meat mixed in: Hyeonseonine
In short
Hyeonseonine Premium IFC Mall Branch is a tteokbokki (spicy rice cake) and bunsik (Korean snack food) restaurant on basement level 2 of IFC Mall in Yeouido, Seoul, connected underground from Yeouido Station Exit 3. The writer ordered the Hyeonseoni Set with a can of cider for takeout, asking staff to mix organ meat into the sundae (Korean blood sausage) and to make the broth tteokbokki mild, then ate it at home: the organ meat had no off smell and the wheat rice cakes were soft enough to eat with a spoon. If you are eating with someone who cannot handle spice, the mild version at Hyeonseonine is a safe pick.

If you're hunting for a good bunsik spot near The Hyundai Seoul or a tteokbokki place in Yeouido, I want to introduce you to Hyeonseonine Premium.

The photo above is what you see when you go underground from Yeouido Station Exit 3, and this photo is what you see coming from the direction of The Hyundai Seoul Yeouido. To be precise, it's on B2 of IFC Mall, so if you're coming from inside IFC Mall, just head to basement level 2.

Hyeonseonine started as a street cart and grew into one of Seoul's 'big three' tteokbokki spots. They have several branches, but this is the one I end up stopping at whenever I'm here shopping.

What is on the menu at Hyeonseonine Premium?
- Set menus: Hyeonseoni Beer Set / Hyeonseoni Combo Set / Hyeonseoni Set / Sunny Set / Baby Set
- Instant set menus: Instant Beer Set / Instant Combo Set
- À la carte: Tteokbokki / Sundae / Mini gimbap / Assorted fritters / Busan-style long fish cake / Tuna mayo rice bowl / Chicken mayo rice bowl / Ramyeon / Spicy ramyeon / Cheese ramyeon

There's a wide range of instant and à la carte items, so you can pick and choose what you eat.

I ordered mine for takeout and waited, but if you're eating in the dining hall, grab side plates, pickled radish and so on from the self-serve bar here.

If you leave a review, you can get a free fried rice cake or sesame mayo rice ball, so go ahead and join in.

Taking the Hyeonseoni Set home from IFC Mall
I bought a Hyeonseoni Set and a can of cider and packed them up to eat at home.
Hyeonseoni Set

I first ate at the original Hyeonseonine location and fell for it, and now I keep coming back for more — one of Seoul's big three tteokbokki spots and a great bunsik place near The Hyundai Seoul that never gets old no matter how much I eat.

The packaging was really clean and neat, so office workers in Yeouido could easily grab this for lunch.

Mild broth tteokbokki with wheat rice cakes you can spoon up
Hyeonseonine, this great bunsik and tteokbokki spot near The Hyundai Seoul, does the broth-style tteokbokki with wheat rice cakes (milttteok), which is exactly the style I love. The soft wheat rice cakes are even better when you scoop them up with a spoon along with the broth. This time I went with the mild-spice option for my brother who can't handle spicy food, and it turned out to be delicious too. If you can't eat spicy, try the mild version.

How to ask for organ meat mixed into the sundae
I asked them to mix in some organ meat with the sundae, and they mixed it in evenly, which was great — and the organ meat had absolutely no off smell, which made it even more delicious.

Dipping it in salt is nice, but dunking it deep into the tteokbokki broth makes it even more moist and delicious.

Plump mini gimbap and assorted fritters in the set
And this mini gimbap (seaweed rice roll) is plumper than your average mini gimbap.

Other mini gimbap places tend to keep the filling simple, but this great bunsik spot near The Hyundai Seoul, Hyeonseonine, packs in ham, imitation crab, pickled radish, egg strips and spinach — basically a mini version of regular gimbap.

And the fritters were fried nice and crispy — the sweet potato was cooked through and tasty, the vegetable fritter had good flavor too, and the mandu, kimmari (seaweed roll fritter), and squid fritter were all good.
Since the tteokbokki has plenty of broth, it's great for dipping various things in, and at home adding ramyeon noodles makes it even richer to enjoy.
