When I don't feel like having a proper meal or get a little hungry, sweet, nutty bread is the first thing that comes to mind, right? I have a few personal favorite breads myself, so I often find myself visiting bakeries. Today, I took my mom to a bakery in Songdo run by a master baker, which I had heard was really famous. It was the already much-talked-about Tomoru Bakery (송도토모루베이커리).

It sits on the corner of the building right beside the Songdo Coast Guard headquarters, so it was incredibly easy to find even on my first visit. As soon as I arrived, I noticed mothers already relaxing at the outdoor terrace tables. You know, right? Anywhere mothers gather is a true local favorite where the taste and quality are already guaranteed!

The moment I stepped inside, the nutty, sweet scent of bread tickled my nose. The wide variety of breads on display was arranged so neatly and hygienically that it was a real pleasure just looking around.

The shop itself is not enormous, but the selection of breads seemed to go on forever—more than enough to make any bread lover's heart flutter.

Cakes and roll cakes
The refrigerated display in particular caught my eye with cakes loaded with seasonal fruit and sandwiches. From mango sandwiches and Shine Muscat sandwiches to chocolate and fresh-cream roll cakes, the selection was truly dazzling.

Sandwich selection
There were fresh vegetable croquettes, ciabatta sandwiches, BLT sandwiches, bagel sandwiches, and mini burger sandwiches that work wonderfully as a meal. I could immediately see why this is called a great bakery near Songdo Central Park.

I couldn't help lingering for ages in front of the baguette and salt bread corners.
Baguette selection

There were simply too many choices: spicy, nutty pollock roe and green onion baguettes, refreshing cucumber baguettes, classic salt bread, pollock roe salt bread, bacon salt bread, and even chocolate shell bread.

I only have one mouth, yet there were so many breads I wanted to eat that I was happily agonizing over my choices. The quality and appearance of every single bread were so impressive that bread lovers from all over Korea would come to Songdo for a bakery crawl.
Just as I was finally heading to the register after all that deliberation, the trendiest Dubai chocolate baguette caught my eye. It looked so hip that I couldn't look away. They even had butter tteok (Korean rice cakes), which I had never tried before! I was so disappointed that I couldn't put everything in my basket. That lingering regret made me desperately want to come back on a Songdo bakery crawl soon and sweep up every menu item I missed.

Another draw here is its plentiful lineup of rice-flour breads for anyone who has trouble digesting wheat flour or is looking for healthier desserts. You can enjoy bread without the burden of wheat flour, so it is a wonderful place to visit with parents or children.

There are plenty of filling options that are easy on the stomach, making this perfect for anyone looking for a high-quality Songdo rice bakery. From sweet pumpkin rice bread, where the mild savoriness of pumpkin meets the chewiness of rice, to various other nutty rice bakery products, every item felt carefully made. If you are looking for Songdo rice bakery options for children's snacks or an easy-on-the-stomach meal, I really recommend it.
Takeaway picks and my top choice: white castella
After much careful thought, let me introduce the items I took home.

My order
- Garlic baguette, 10 pieces (₩4,500)
- Basil tomato bread (₩5,800)
- White castella (₩5,000)
- Croissant (₩3,500)
- Sweet pumpkin rice bread (₩5,700)
- Ciabatta sandwich (₩8,000)
- Mocha bread (₩4,200)
When I got home and tasted everything, my absolute top pick was the white castella!
Its soft, pillowy cream felt almost like applying a moisturizing lotion inside my mouth, with a pleasantly sweet flavor that was never too much. Perhaps it uses aged dough, because I could taste both castella's signature softness and a lovely chewiness at once. I ate it in complete admiration.
Tomoru Bakery's garlic baguette and basil tomato bread were also deeply flavorful and excellent as meal substitutes. You could really tell that they hadn't skimped on ingredients and had made everything with care, so I think I'll be visiting often from now on.
