When you're traveling in Jeju with family, finding a first meal that satisfies everyone from kids to grandparents is basically the most important mission haha.

Where to have breakfast with parents in Seogwipo: Jungmun Godeungeo Ssam-bap
While carefully searching for a Seogwipo breakfast place that's easy on the stomach for parents but also delivers on value and quality, I found Jungmun Godeungeo Ssam-bap (중문고등어쌈밥).
Open 09:30 / Close 20:00
It's been praised on well-known TV shows like Live Tonight (생방송 오늘저녁) and Saturday Is Good for Rice (토요일은 밥이 좋아), so I went in curious to check it out.

5 minutes from Jungmun Tourist Complex: parking and seating
This place is just a 5-minute drive from Jungmun Tourist Complex and 10 minutes from Daepo Jusangjeolli, making it the perfect stop before starting a day of sightseeing!! It has a massive private parking lot that easily handles 10 or more large buses,

and thanks to a spacious, comfortable 480-seat hall, we had zero worries about parking or waiting.

Pink muhly in the 3,500-pyeong garden
Best of all was the massive 3,500-pyeong (about 11,570 m²) garden stretching out in front of the restaurant! We happened to catch the Jeju pink muhly grass just starting to turn its pink shade. It wasn't in full bloom the day we went, but it still had its own charm haha.

If you time your visit right, it's a jackpot photo zone where you can rack up dozens of great shots — perfect for a family stroll before or after the meal.
How to get the free abalone porridge before noon
There's one great tip especially for early-morning visitors! If you show the coupon from 'Turn on Naver Place notifications' with one order per adult before noon, they give you a free bowl of premium abalone porridge made with abalone innards ground in rich and thick!! One warm, savory, smooth bowl really comforted our empty stomachs, and my parents were genuinely happy about it.

Aged-kimchi mackerel ssam-bap with abalone hot-pot rice, 18,000 won
A Seogwipo breakfast spot with a thoughtful welcome dish to start things off!! My family ordered the restaurant's signature dish, 'old kimchi mackerel ssam-bap + abalone hot-pot rice (₩18,000),' one per person, generously.

When the main dish arrived on the table shortly after, it had a neat, impressive presentation, and the self-serve bar set up on one side of the restaurant added even more satisfaction!!

What the self-serve bar holds
The self-serve bar was loaded with spicy-sweet black pork jeyuk bokkeum (stir-fried pork), soft japchae (glass noodle stir-fry), a variety of neat side dishes, and homegrown ssam vegetables — great for piling your plate however you liked.

How the aged kimchi and mackerel taste together
The combination of deeply fermented kimchi and plump, firm mackerel simmering in a shallow broth smelled amazing before we even tasted it. The deep, tangy umami of the old kimchi paired perfectly with the clean, savory fattiness of the mackerel in the restaurant's special sauce.
Piling well-braised old kimchi and moist mackerel flesh generously onto fresh ssam vegetables and wrapping it up was basically a rice thief in disguise~ The precious abalone hot-pot rice served alongside was packed with abalone full of ocean flavor and had wonderful stickiness,

and after scooping out the rice and pouring in hot water to make sungnyung (scorched rice tea), topping it with a piece of old kimchi really settled our stomachs and felt so comforting. The menu is packed and varied — moist black pork cutlets for kids, grilled mackerel, grilled tilefish sets, and more — so I'd recommend it for a family meal out in Jeju~

Is Jungmun Godeungeo Ssam-bap worth an early start?
Delicious food, value-packed perks, and a beautiful garden view! It was a perfect Seogwipo breakfast itinerary that let us take in Jeju's atmosphere with all our senses haha.

I strongly recommend Jungmun Godeungeo Ssam-bap as a trusted Seogwipo breakfast spot where anyone, young or old, can start their day feeling good.
