First-day Jeju City Korean BBQ for two at ₩86,000: Dolgyeok Hanwoo
In short
Dolgyeok Hanwoo is a hanwoo (Korean beef) and black pork grill restaurant in Yeondong, Jeju City, about 10 minutes by car from Jeju Airport. On the first day of a 3-night, 4-day Jeju trip, two people ordered 2 servings of manong galbisal (garlic-seasoned rib meat), black pork cubed jowl, Dolgyeok hanwoo doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew) and 2 bowls of rice for a total of ₩86,000. The gently garlicky manong galbisal and the manong chili soy sauce were the highlights, and free parking made Dolgyeok Hanwoo an easy first stop straight from the airport.

Dolgyeok Hanwoo, a Jeju beef restaurant near Jeju Airport — here's my review.

I went on a 3-night, 4-day trip to Jeju. As soon as we landed, we headed to a Jeju beef restaurant near the airport for dinner. It's a place where you can enjoy hanwoo (Korean beef) at a reasonable price, and try a variety of meat menus from the special manong galbisal to black pork cubed pork jowl. Great access from Jeju Airport, clean interior, and a nice atmosphere — here's my review of Dolgyeok Hanwoo.
Where is Dolgyeok Hanwoo, and where do you park?

We arrived just 10 minutes from Jeju Airport, and the place had a clean, polished feel.
💡 How's the location? Located in Yeondong, Jeju City, Dolgyeok Hanwoo is a great spot to hit right after landing, or on your last day before flying out. Since it's in downtown Jeju City, it's also easy to reach from Aewol or Jocheon.

💡 Is parking convenient? There's free parking right next to the restaurant, and if it's full, the Sinjeju public parking lot is just 2 minutes on foot, so parking was never a worry.
Inside Dolgyeok Hanwoo: a modern room with traditional touches

💡 What's the interior like? There are round tables with an old-school feel alongside modern square tables, all unified in black tones for a modern yet clean look. Traditional paintings hang on the walls, and Korean traditional touches are scattered throughout, giving the whole space a vibe that suits a grill restaurant well.

Even though it was top-grade hanwoo, the price felt reasonable and good value.
The banchan: simple but memorable

Dressed lettuce salad, kimchi, pickled radish, cucumber salad, ssamjang, salt, whole grain mustard, wasabi, Dolgyeok sashimi sauce. Simple but clean and tasty side dishes.

And then the manong chili soy sauce came out, which was genuinely magic sauce. Good dipped with meat, and good mixed into rice too.

The complimentary miyeokguk (seaweed soup) had a really refreshing broth, and served in a ttukbaegi (earthenware pot), the portion was generous too.
How do the manong galbisal and black pork cubed jowl taste?

The manong galbisal and black pork cubed pork jowl arrived with a cute haru bang (Jeju stone statue) figure.

We grilled the mild pork jowl first. I thought a single serving would be small, but the portion was bigger than expected.

The black pork cubed pork jowl was soft with really great meat flavor. Honestly I didn't expect much from the pork at a Jeju beef restaurant, so it was a nice surprise.

Dipped in the manong chili soy sauce, it was even more special.

The manong galbisal blends top-grade hanwoo short rib cuts (intercostal meat, flower meat, chuck flap tail), marinated to order with garlic and their own special sauce. With so much garlic piled on top, it felt distinctive and I was really curious how it would taste.

Glistening and grilled to a nice golden brown over charcoal.

Juicy manong galbisal. I thought the heap of garlic would make it strong, but the garlic aroma was surprisingly mild, the texture was chewy, and the marinade was delicious.

Following the staff's tip to pile on all the sauces at once, it was another standout bite.
Dolgyeok hanwoo doenjang jjigae and its deep broth

I ordered the Dolgyeok hanwoo doenjang jjigae not realizing miyeokguk already comes free with the meal. At first I thought I'd ordered it for nothing, but the doenjang jjigae was so rich and delicious that I was glad I did.
Jeju carrot juice to finish

After we finished eating, they brought out Jeju carrot juice — 100% carrot with nothing added, so honestly it didn't taste great, but it left me with the impression that the staff were friendly and the service was thoughtful.
Dolgyeok Hanwoo: the verdict
