Jeju hanwoo grill with non-spicy jjapageti for kids: Dolgyeok Hanwoo
In short
Dolgyeok Hanwoo is a 1++ hanwoo (Korean beef) charcoal grill restaurant on Yeondong 11-gil in Jeju City. Visiting with a child, the writer ordered hanwoo galbisal and garlic galbisal at 27,000 won per 100g, plus the Dolgyeok Sichuan jjajang jjapageti (black bean noodles) at 10,000 won made without chili, and added chadolbagi (thin beef brisket) at the end. The galbisal was as tender as tenderloin and easy for the child to eat, and the jjapageti came in a portion big enough for two.

Today I want to introduce Dolgyeok Hanwoo, a hanwoo (Korean beef) restaurant in Yeondong, Jeju that's a real hit. The meat is so tender and juicy — this place even appeared on Tzuyang's몇끼 ("A Few Meals") show. We tried the same galbisal and jjajang ramyeon Tzuyang had. Let's get into the review of Dolgyeok Hanwoo!

Dolgyeok Hanwoo! Somehow the name makes you feel like you have to eat hanwoo with real determination.

What the dining room is like
The interior is really clean. With a big long window running along the wall, the atmosphere was nice too.

Near the entrance you can actually watch them trimming the meat.

Ordering the jjapageti without chili for a child
First we ordered hanwoo galbisal, marnog galbisal, and the Dolgyeok Sichuan jjajang jjapageti. Thankfully, when I mentioned we were eating with a child, they made the jjapageti not spicy at all! Right after ordering, the charcoal came out immediately.
The fire was really strong! Grilling in the center would burn the meat quickly, so we grilled it a bit off to the side.

Here are the side dishes and dipping sauces. Every single sauce was delicious!

A hanwoo miyeokguk (seaweed soup) comes out too.

How the hanwoo galbisal and garlic galbisal tasted
Ta-da! The galbisal arrived. Wow... look at that marbling.

The meat was really fresh and the quality was excellent!
Curious about the difference between marnog galbisal and plain galbisal, we put both on the grill at once. Both were really delicious! Once the marinated meat starts to burn the grill plate, though, we grilled the hanwoo galbisal first from then on.

Juicy and chewy, bursting in your mouth! Certified must-visit restaurant!

This red sauce is called dolgyeok sashimi sauce, and I really loved it!

When they grill the galbisal rare...

...this is how the cross-section looks. Some parts were chewy, and even though this was galbisal, it was as tender as tenderloin!

We also enjoyed it with a bit of wasabi.

I usually prefer hanwoo without marinade, but the marnog galbisal here was a special treat too.
The garlic chili soy sauce was really good too. After finishing the marnog galbisal, we poured all the leftover garlic into it and simmered it.

Was the Sichuan jjajang jjapageti good for a child?
Then out came the jjapageti my kid loves, the Dolgyeok Sichuan jjajang jjapageti. I was so relieved they were able to make it not spicy!
The steam rising off it looked so delicious! And the portion was huge. It didn't look like a single serving at all — more like enough for two.
I blew on it to cool it down before giving it to my kid.

Nom nom, my kid really enjoyed it.

Eating chadolbagi brisket after the galbisal
There's a note that says the recommended way to enjoy Dolgyeok Hanwoo is to eat chadolbagi first, then galbisal, but we finished all the galbisal first and then suddenly got curious about the chadolbagi, so we did it backwards. Haha. Still delicious though!

Here's the extra chadolbagi we ordered, one serving.

Placed on the charcoal, it cooked up nicely in no time.

So juicy and tasty! For a kid, though, the galbisal was more tender to eat than the chadolbagi.

After the meal, my kid gave a thumbs up. It felt great to have such a delicious hanwoo meal after a while.

By the time we finished and walked out, the sky had quickly turned dark. It was such a happy meal, finding such a delicious hanwoo restaurant right near home. I thought I'd definitely come back again soon. If you're looking for a great hanwoo beef restaurant in Yeondong, Jeju, I highly recommend this place — you should definitely check it out.
