Jeonpo curry restaurant with a Sunday fried side set trio: Sarugak20
In short
Sarugak20 is a Japanese-style curry restaurant on the basement floor across from Jeonpo 1-dong Community Center in Busanjin, Busan. Arriving a little before opening on a Sunday and walking in as the first customer, the writer ordered shrimp cream curry, half-and-half curry and a fried side set of karaage, fried shrimp and sweet potato cheese croquette from the morning menu, which is served only until 10:30am. The gentle heat of the cream curry and the cheese-topped beef curry both landed well, making Sarugak20 an easy date-course pick.

So many people go on dates in Jeonpo these days. The Jeonpo restaurant I want to introduce today is Sarugak20 — great atmosphere, great food, and honestly perfect for a date course. I ate completely satisfied, so let me hurry up and share the review. :)
Where is Sarugak20 and what are its hours?

Sarugak20 is a Jeonpo curry restaurant located right across from Jeonpo 1-dong Community Center. Just head down where you see the monkey sign. It's on the basement floor, but instead of feeling cramped it actually felt cozy, which I really liked. :>

While I was eating, so many delivery orders kept coming in haha — it seems to be famous for takeout and delivery too! Since it opens relatively early, it's also perfect for a late breakfast or early lunch. I went in as the very first customer to solve my own brunch cravings.
Parking and getting to Sarugak20 by transit
Being located in Jeonpo, the restaurant doesn't seem to have its own parking lot. You'll probably need to use a nearby paid lot or park on the street. I came by public transit — it's a 4-minute walk from Jeonpo Station Exit 8, and a 2-minute walk from the Busan Bank (Jeonpo Station) village bus stop, so it's a great location for both subway and bus access.
Inside Sarugak20: interior and seating
I actually got the Sunday opening time wrong and arrived a bit early, but the kind owner happily let me wait inside. Thanks to that, I got to capture the emotive, cozy interior of Sarugak20 properly.

The atmosphere at this Jeonpo curry restaurant was seriously impressive. There's group seating for several people, plus floor seating where you can sit comfortably and eat.
There's also a table for four and a bar table big enough for solo dining, so it's great for eating alone, great for a date like me, and great as a meetup spot with friends too.

Thanks to the wood-toned tables and chairs and all the little props scattered around, the space felt comfortable, warm, and cozy. It seems they also sell some of the cute little props here and there. It was nice to browse around while waiting for the curry. Even the hand-washing area at Sarugak20 was full of atmosphere,, honestly such good vibes..
Sarugak20's menu and what the morning menu includes

This is Sarugak20's regular menu board! Starting with the signature cream curry, there are several special curries and a half-and-half curry too. You can add scrambled egg or fried items, and there are drinks, juices, and even highballs, so you can order whatever fits your taste. As mentioned earlier, please note that courier delivery and takeout are both available.

They said only the morning menu is available until 10:30am. There were three curry options possible — shrimp cream curry, today's curry, and half-and-half curry — so I ordered two: shrimp cream curry and half-and-half curry. For sides, tonkatsu or the fried side set were both options. Drinks could be ordered at a discounted price compared to the regular menu. I thought it'd be nice to come back early in the morning again to try things a bit cheaper.
Shrimp cream curry and half-and-half curry: how they taste

They brought out the water and cutlery first. I really liked this kind of clean setup. My ordered soda came out together with a cool ice cup too. Total sense of style!

It didn't take long before all the dishes I ordered came out. The moment I saw the visuals, I immediately understood why this place is known as a top Jeonpo curry restaurant haha. The taste is great, but the visuals are a total heart-stealer too.. perfect for a date course, I thought. They said they'll give more curry and rice on request if needed. We were already full with the base portion so we didn't ask for extra! The basic banchan is diced radish kimchi, and I also ordered the fried side set. The fried side set comes with one each of karaage, fried shrimp, and sweet potato cheese croquette. Total recommend!
Let me introduce the shrimp cream curry first. Inside the smooth cream curry, plump shrimp were hidden here and there. The cream curry felt smooth yet had a subtle spiciness. True to its name, it really was soft and creamy.
It didn't feel like eating curry — it felt more like eating a well-simmered soup, with softness filling my mouth. The spiciness wasn't strong but subtle, and I could taste the savory depth too. It was delicious enough to eat with just the shrimp on top, no other side dishes needed...!
I especially liked that the subtle spiciness kept the curry from getting boring, which can happen if you eat curry for too long. There's clearly a reason the cream curry is the signature dish.

The half-and-half curry comes with two versions — the signature cream curry and beef curry. Personally, I'd totally recommend the half-and-half curry since you get to enjoy both flavors.

As I mentioned earlier, the cream curry was truly delicious with its softness and subtle spiciness.

But this beef curry was really charming too. Over the deep color of the slow-simmered beef curry, savory cheese was scattered like snow, making it look even more delicious.
The chewy cheese and the softly chewy texture of the beef came together so well that I fell for it after just one bite. The deep beefy aroma paired so well with the savory cheese flavor. If the cream curry was smooth like a soup, the beef curry felt richer with the added texture of the beef.
The fried side set: karaage, fried shrimp and sweet potato cheese croquette

The fried side set I ordered was also a total win! Crispy on the outside, and even better dipped in the curry. Especially the sweet potato cheese croquette — sweet and so delicious, I'll definitely order it as a side again next time.
Is Sarugak20 worth a Sunday morning visit?
Sarugak20 was great not just for the taste but for the atmosphere too! I was looking for a real Jeonpo curry restaurant and I feel like I found a genuine gem — it made for a good day. The owner was especially kind, which made me want to come back again. The floor seating was so pretty too haha, I'll definitely have to revisit with friends next time. :>
