Friday lunch curry restaurant in Jeonpo, Busan: Sarugak20
In short
Sarugak20 is a Japanese curry restaurant in a basement space five minutes on foot from Exit 8 of Jeonpo Station in Busanjin, Busan. Over a Friday lunch with a friend, the writer ordered brisket cream curry, a half-and-half curry (cream plus special) and shrimp tempura, and found the seasoning gentle and the rice-to-curry ratio just right. With group tables, solo seats and floor seating all under one roof, Sarugak20 is worth saving as a Jeonpo lunch spot.

I parked at the Jeonpo Station parking lot, and it's just a 5-minute walk from Exit 8 of Jeonpo Station to Sarugak20. Who knew there was a curry gem tucked away in a Jeonpo basement!! Even though it was past the Friday lunch rush, there were still quite a few people there.

Inside the café-like basement: solo seats and floor seating
When I went down to the basement, wait — I honestly thought I'd walked into a café instead of a curry place 😳 The interior is decorated so warmly, how did they do it??

There's a great variety of seating — group tables, solo seats, and even floor-seating tables — so whether you're having a solo lunch in Jeonpo or coming with a group, this place works really well. And the autumn sunlight pouring through the window was so warm!

They were also selling cute little props and bracelets in one corner of the store!
What we ordered at Sarugak20: brisket cream curry, half-and-half curry, shrimp tempura

Brisket cream curry 🥩🍛 / Half-and-half curry 🍛 / Shrimp tempura 🍤
If you love curry, it's hard to walk past this menu — I hesitated a bit as soon as I saw it, but in the end I wanted to try a little of everything, so I ordered several dishes. To cut to the chase: our curry choices that day were a huge success 😎
Brisket cream curry at Sarugak20: how does it taste?

Cream curry plus brisket is a completely unbeatable combo. The mellow curry flavor mixed with the savory brisket made it feel so much richer than plain curry alone. The real point is scooping up the rice, brisket, and cream curry all together in one bite!
As the curry soaks between the grains of rice and you bite into the brisket at the same time, the flavor and texture shift a little with each spoonful, which I loved. Personally I'm a fan of curry with meat in it, so I really enjoyed this. The cream wasn't heavy either, and the rice was fluffy short-grain white rice 🤍
Half-and-half curry: cream curry plus special curry

The half-and-half curry combines cream curry and special curry. The cream curry side was soft and mellow, easy to eat without being too intense, while the special curry side had its own distinctly Japanese curry flavor, different from the cream side.
It looks gorgeous too — and with half-and-half, if you get tired of the cream curry you can just switch to the special side. You can also add toppings like a fried egg! My friend who came with me said she actually liked the half-and-half curry even more than the brisket curry 🤤
Shrimp tempura as a side

It felt like a waste to order just curry, so shrimp tempura joined the table too 🦐 The outside was crispy and the shrimp inside stayed plump and springy — you have to eat it alongside the curry to really know what's up!! The contrast between the soft curry texture and the crunchy tempura is a great palate reset between bites!
Fresh out of the fryer, piping hot, and absolutely delicious — your eyes widen the moment you take a bite. The shrimp tempura here is legit too (write that down!!)

Which Sarugak20 menu combination to order
- ✔️ Half-and-half curry → get both cream curry and special curry at once, great if you can't decide
- ✔️ Brisket cream curry → soft cream curry with added brisket
- ✔️ Shrimp tempura → a crispy side dish that's perfect between bites of curry
Ordering this way meant we got to experience several flavors instead of just sticking with one curry, and I loved that so much.

When I'm looking for a curry spot in Jeonpo, Busan, I don't want anything too intense — and Sarugak20's seasoning was just right, plus the rice-to-curry ratio was great, so I enjoyed it all the way through 🤍 If you've been cycling through the same old spots in Jeonpo, how about curry this time?! If you're searching for a good curry restaurant in Jeonpo-dong or a Jeonpo lunch spot, save Sarugak20 and make sure to visit 📌🍛
